Nokia 3650,Worth buying today,is it

I just wanna ask a question whether 3650 is worth buying today.Its discontinued from nokia,but its still available in the stores.The price now is 276 USD.Do you think its worth buying this fone at this price even if its discontinued.

If yes than there are many questions which i have to ask to all 3650 users.

firstly,i have heard that in 3650 we can watch movies.I want to know how is the clearity.I know that it can't be compared with the clearity of a normal screen.Can we understand the movie if we are watching in 3650.Is it that clear to see a movie in 3650.How is the sound quality.

I have heard that we can even play mp3 in this fone.How is the clearity of mp3.Is the sound loud enough to listen.

I have also heard something about irremote.Whats the use of that thing.I mean can we change the channels.How far i have to keep the fone to change the channel.

1) Yes you can watch movies on the 3650. The quality isn't that amazing, but it's still pretty good for a phone! And yeah, you can understand what is going on in the movie, both visual and audio.

2) Yes, there are many applications that allow you to listen to MP3s on your phone. The clarity all depends on how the MP3 is encoded. No need for MP3s to be 128kbps on your phone, so you can change them to around 56kbps and not lose quality.

3) Yeah, IRremote is used for channel changing.

How is the sound quality if i listen mp3 with a thrid party mp3 software.

Is the sound quality loud to listen.

There have been a few threads about people getting low sound using the MP3 players, if this happens, then you can always increase the amplitude of the MP3s using programs such as, Cool Edit Pro 2 or Sound Forge.

I bought my 3650 3weeks ago, and i couldn't be more happy.
Ultra MP3 gives me great sound, both from the headset, and from the speaker.
To get the size smaller, i use DietMP3 on my mp3's, no sound-diffrence at all.
but then i also take fm-radio-quality in the settings.
Camcoder PRO is the best video-prog. to shoot videos. U can watch fullscreen, and edit ur videos by replaceing sounds and voice's + thier is a lot of settings.

the pic quality is quite good i must sae.

if u haf more money, y not consider a 6600, or wait for the 7610. if u dun haf the budget, go for 3650, u wun regret it.

Hey i think the 3650 is great value, a great fone, with great software capabilities. No other phone has ever had all these together, to show my appreciation i wrote an artice at Itavisen (http://itavisen.no/lesersiden/vis_innlegg.html?innlegg_id=226) (In norwegian) in hope that more people will purchase this great phone.6600 is an okay phone too, but it certainly isnt worth paying 200 dollars more, its almost double the price...

1 think to keep in mind is if you wanna go down the nokia service center, they are pretty hot on the warrenty deal. Nokia give ya 15months from manufacture, and you get 12 months from purchase. They go by nokias 15months before they touch the fone, so if you want it fixing, you need to be within that 15months, else they get shitty with you. Providing you can prove you bought it within the last 12 months, you should be able to get served. This is relevant, cuz as nokia have stopped makin 3650s, chances are the one you get will have been hanging around in a warehouse somewhere. I saw a woman the other day who went in with a dead 3310, and she sed she got it on xmas eve, 2003, and they told her where to go cuz the fone was over 15months old. Just so that you know and don't get a shock if you need to go down there.

Also tell me that i have heard that this handset ringtone volume gets slow after a month.If the vibration is on the ringtone is played loudly otherwise its slow is it true.

Any other symbian fone u recommend.

I think this is the cheapest symbian fone.But any fone at the price range of USD 200 - USD 300

if i buy this fone, can i use this fone to connect to internet on my pc using the fone as a modem via bluetooth dongle

if u want... u CAN get about the same quality as ur pc plays! using mobiclip. but of course, the size will be bigger too so for that u might need a bigger mmc unless u only use it for short clips

mobiclip is a video player for ur phone. it comes with its own converter which converts movies to .mo format. learn more about mobiclip here: www.mobiclip.com

the converter is not there however... u need to get that somewhere else... like on irc. the size of a 10mb file will depend on how much u compress it, and also how big the original file is... ur phone screen is 208 x 176 so that will be the new size. but it will be less that 5mb i think. (most likely 1 - 3mb) be sure to read the guide on how to convert to .mo files when u download the converter

another mobile player its worth looking at is smartmovie.... it has a much easyer way to convert the movie, it uses XviD codec. and has more functions in the player... mobiclip has better quality and more frames per sec tho

I'm assuming ur from bombay... so if you are, then buying the 3650 isnt worth it... I mean its a good fone and all that, its just that better ones are out. You might wanna consider the 3660. For one, it has a way better picture quality. If you get over the small price difference, 3660 is a good buy especially with the new keypad. The one on a 3650 is a bitch! Drives me nuts when I have to send messages! Used it for a bit and went crazy!
For movies, stick to either rm files or smartmovies. Theyre both minute in size! :)

Do they still manfacture 3660's?

Mumbaifans, 3650 is the cheapest symbian fone out today, it is great value. the 3660 has only 2 differences from the 3650: it has more colors and a different keypad, this means that the 3660 doesnt have better picture quiality, just more colors... I would still reccomend the 3650 this is because most programs are either made for the 3650 or the 6600, nothing for the 3660 keypad, though i may be wrong. If you get the chance, buy it! No other phone can compare in price and quality. If you are to get a medium range fone get a symbian, this is because of its wide platform. The only comparable platform is Widows mobile though this is much more expensve.

How is the prcing of mobile fones in India at the moment? Currently, the place i find has the cheapest fones is Dubai. This is because there is no tax! The 6600 is retailing for less than 300 U.S.D there.. But for all of us others this is just a dream...

Rupees= India, boy. Maybe u didnt check the right places but i saw it for 300 weather u like it or not. If u look at the pricelist in India, the 6600 is bout double the price, it surely aint worth that! buy 2 3650's instead, unless ur loaded with cash n it doesnt matter what price it is...

Another option is to buy a fake; a fone that is manufactured by someone that isnt Nokia. Then u can get stuff like dual mmc readers and 8mb ram, its insane i tell ya! My last fone was a 3210 with vibration! It worked exactly like the original, but i paid 1/3 of the price and i got additional features. But this is only if u know where to buy it, since pirating has been taken seriously in Asia..
