3650 only has mono sound and yes you can just use standard hands free. what earphones did you buy??? the official nokia ones that are for 8310 and 6510??? if so they aint stereo, just mono in both ears.
i had an old hands free kit lyin about so i modified it so i had 2 earphones on it and a volume control as well as the mic, still only mono in both ears but it works :)

These files can be set as ringtones:

-MIDI,polyphone (.mid)
-Windows Audio (.wav)
-Adaptive Multi-Rate Codec,true tone (.amr)
-Adaptive Multi-Rate WideBand Codec, true tone better quality (.awb)

These are supported when you buy your phone.
Other files i think you have to install an app. :)
