first two digits are for manufacturer. nokia have used 35, 44, 49 and 01 (for u.s).
next 4 digits are the model. every model may have more than one 4-digit combination.
example: for 3330 - 0151
the first 6 digits (2+4) are called TAC - type approval code.
next 2 digits are for the place where the phone was assembled. these are called FAC - final assembly code
next 6 digits are unique serial number for your phone. two phones may have the same number here, as long as they are not the same model.
last digit is checksum, calculated this way:
you take all the number, from right to left and multiply each digit by 2,1,2,1.
ex: 12345678901234
--- 12121212121212
= =============
1438512716901438
then you have to add all the numbers you got. here the result will be 63.
the checksum digit will be 10-this number (edit: this number=last digit of the result). in this case 10-3=7
the 15-digits imei for this example will be 123456789012347.
