Nokia 3660
firmware V4.57 NHL-8 21-10-2003

I've had the phone about a week so far, using the supplied 16Mb card without any troubles. I bought a Kingmax 256Mb card and formatted it, reset the phone back to factory. Went about re-installing all my apps and games, but I am having problems installing stuff ( sis and jar ) onto the new card. I get a partial install with an error ( Installer : System Error ) on most apps. Confusing thing is, the card fully formatted fine and data files like rm's and 3gp's work fine.

Is this an installer issue or is my card not quite compatible?

BTW the apps install on the phone memory fine.

Any ideas appreciated.

Its the card. I use to own a Kingmax 256MB MMC Card on my Nokia 6600. Didn't run smoothly.

Don't use it anymore, buy a new one or refund it, and exchange for a different one

Don't buy Kingmax MMC Cards - they aren't fully compatible with Nokia 6600!

Thanks for the reply.. Yep I did a search around and it seems lots of people have been having problems. Bugger.. since I bought it overseas, might have to sell it to someone who uses a PDA or Camera.. and buy another brand.

Does the formatting on another device really help?

A little bit, but when you're on the phone and want to save a image received from MMS or a WAP site, it will keep saying "MMC Card Corrupt"

Which means it won't be a nice and smooth experience

Just buy another one, like Twinmos for example. Some no-name brands are better than Kingmax ... like the one im using right now, which i dont know the brand lol

I have had no problems with the 256Mb Kingmax for the past 2 months with the N-Gage. Its accusually my favorite card for its speed, tight fit, no paper label, red in color. It all sounds great on paper.

I agree name brands mean nothing with MMC cards. Here in the US Sandisk cards are everywhere always at a premium and are the slowest cards I have seen.

True that mate.

But how come I had a bad experience using the Kingmax MMC Card on both 6600 and N-Gage? I tried it on both phones, but doesn't run smoothly. It only runs a little bit better on the N-Gage

That's why I'm using this unknown brand MMC Card. Looks alright, and it runs quite well. Very reliable.

But anyway, everyone has their own opinions based on their own experiences ...

Do Nokia 3660 and 6600 even support 512Mb MMC cards?

I don't think the question is:

"Does the Nokia 3650 and 6600 support 512MB MMC Cards"

But instead, like:

"Does the 512MB MMC Card support the Nokia 3650 and 6600?"

Do Nokia 3660 and 6600 even support 512Mb MMC cards?

yea they do, depending on 2 factors.

1) the fone firmware
2) make of mmc

best option, test b4 u buy.
