Are AAC files any better than MP3? What's so good about them, that Nokia has to create a new file extension?

I think AAC is done by Dolby and can support more sound channels and surround sound etc for movies.

So not so much better if you are playing on a phone with only stereo or even mono sound

yes AAC is better than Mp3 (well for me its is for phone use) you get the same quality sound as Mp3 and plus you save a lot of space, the program i use to convert my files from Mp3 to AAC is called DBpowerAMP Music Converter you can get it here http://www.dbpoweramp.com/ totally free and its a very easy to use program. but also when you download this this program you havee to download the AAC codec which can be found on the same website i gave you. Well i hope this helped you guys out very much.
