Hi

Im thinking for chopping in the N-gage and getting a 6600 from fleabay to use on a pay as you go contract.

My n-gage is currently on an orange PAYG and I dont have the ability to use WAP, GRPS or any multi-media messaging facilities.

Do I lose any major features of the 6600 by having a PAYG contract? or should I just stop being a cheap skate and go on to a proper contract?

Well if your PAYG doesn't support the WAP, GPRS and MMS, then you will be missing out on some features, but not many.

I know with my provider (O2) i had to call em up to get them to put GPRS and MMS on my PAYG service. Now, i have full functionalilty of any contract deal. Im sure orange would give you acess if you ring em up. Mine was free to get sorted out, apart from the 50p/min call charges... grrr...

I'm using an ex Orange contract 6600 that's been unlocked for all networks on O2 PAYG. I phoned O2 got them to enable GPRS. Now I can use GPRS WAP (which is still free!) and send MMS messages. The only thing O2 PAYG customers don't get that Contract do is O2 Mobile Web (Full GPRS Data access)

Are your "PAYG" things just simply a "Prepaid" option?

Cause I'm in Australia on the Optus Prepaid network. I'm not losing anything. We, prepaid customers, have access to MMS GPRS SMS and phone calls

I'm not sure about Call Divert, Call Barring or Call waiting for prepaid users. But the service provider can bar your phone if you report it as stolen

Gillsfan.
I too am on an orange PAYG NGage
It does accept WAP and GPRS and wot not.
Need to ring Orange to get them to activate the Multimedia settings on your SIM card (If not already), then if your NGage is not set up to accept WAP /GPRS you can download the settings to your NGage from the Orange web site.

Cheers
