Is there any hard or fast rules regarding which one to use. Should i always attempt V2 first and use Griffin if they fail.

I ssume Griffin codes are for more modern phones such as 7600, 6600 etc.

@footix
you shall always use v2.

@FU_Too
the 2/5/7 is asic type.
v2/griffin are box-serials.

@DRMSucks
every dongle given to a company had a serial number, so nokia can tell who calculated a code by checking it's box-serial, and sometimes block a certain dongle from calculating codes, if it was stolen or cloned.
then the griffin team cracked one dongle, which happend to have a certain serial (32819), so now it is called "griffin codes".

later more serials were discovered, so we have "v1", "v2", "griffin clip", etc..

today you can enter any serial you want in the new calculators, so this doesn't really mean anything.

bottom line: always use v2.
only if you are trying to unlock a nokia 1100 - use "griffin clip".
