Yes, my phone now has radio. Not really though. The handsfree doesn't use radio software on the phone. It connects via the normal jack. Have a look at the pic. Have any questions? Post here and I'll answer and if neccessary, I'll post more pics.

I'm in Australia, so most good stuff are on Ebay. So on Ebay AU (www.ebay.com.au) I got it for AUD$9.95
That's USD$7.47 based on the currency rate 1 AUD = 0.750397 USD
Here's a link to the same item the seller is selling again:

Btw, may I mention, that the Samsung E700 is crap. It looks good, and has the multi-shot or whatever they call it. It has no MMC, not Symbian and isn't a smartphone.
Guess what I'm saying is, get a 3660, N-gage or 6600

How good is the radio scanner? From what I know is most of this unofficial radio accesseries r not very good. The batteries need frequent changing(more money) and usually don't draw power from the hp itself!

Please could someone, who bought this handset, tell us if:
1) It sounds good, loudly and without crap at hights volumes (like nokia "stereo" handsfree). If it is a valid solution :)
2) How much long lives a battery and which type of battery it needs (the model is expensive?)
3) How cost ship it outside Australia..
Thanks a lot :)

I just bought a "Nokia Music Player HDR-1" off Ebay AU. It was compatible with the 3310, which means it will be compatible with the 6600 (the charger and headset plugs are together. I've tried them before with a Nokia Wire-d Car Kit). Now I'm waiting for delivery
Link on Nokia Site: http://nokia.com/nokia/0,5184,4226,00.html
This Music Player has a 32MB MMC Card, which I can fill with ACC/MP3 files. I can listen to RADIO, as well as make calls through it! Awesome hey!
But damn, I have to buy another 256MB MultiMedia Card ...
gophermaster
15-04-2004, 05:06 AM
Your not going to be able to fit much on a 32 MMC. :D
nk_au
15-04-2004, 05:08 AM
Yea, I need a 256MB MMC Card faster ... before my Nokia HDR-1 Music Player comes. Nokia.com claims that 32MB can fit "1 hour of music". Bullshit ...
AAC or MP3? Which one's better?
gophermaster
15-04-2004, 05:12 AM
AAC is "supposedly" a smaller file.
You might be able to fit 1 hour of music; only if all the MP3s were encoded at a mere 12kbps.
nk_au
15-04-2004, 05:14 AM
Damn Nokia hey! All companies do that, at the lowest and crappiest setting ... they say you can fit 1 hour.
But once you put in your fav mp3s at 128kbps and good quality, you can only fit a few minutes
Oh well, 256MB or 512MB? Which one will suit me? I don't think i even have enough money to buy a 256 now ...
gophermaster
15-04-2004, 05:18 AM
The average song encoded at 128 is around 4-5 megs. Now you wouldn't fit barely any on the MMC.
A 256 MMC with MP3s encoded at 56kbps, will be plenty big enough.
nk_au
15-04-2004, 06:54 AM
512MB would be huge wouldn't it? I can't even buy a 256MB MMC Card, guess I have to borrow some cash off my parents just for two months ... until I can pay it off again :D
gophermaster
16-04-2004, 06:58 AM
Hehehe yeah. A 128 MMC will have to do me for a while.
Zenden
16-04-2004, 08:12 AM
Use dietmp3 program and encode it at 64kbit as mobile phone song. The song will reduce to a size around 1.5mb of a 4mins duration. Which mean u can at least a 1 and half album into a 32mb MMC card. The mp3 only suffer a 10% degrade using 64kbit for playing in stereo! While 0% for playing in mono!

Plz someone can tell me if this cheep Fm tuner keep the power from the phone (like Nokia one) or it has a battery? Tnx
nk_au
17-04-2004, 01:13 AM
It uses a small battery at the back of the blue centre control
Zenden
17-04-2004, 04:49 PM
That means u must keep buying the small batteries to support it.I bet the battery must be smaller than a AAA batteries which even mean u can't get rechargable one( Can, very rare!)

Yes i read here: http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,,28066,00.html

Today I checked it from a store and official nokia radio headset (HS-2R) does not support 6600,i.e. the port is not suitable. (it supports 3100, 6100 etc.)
Does anyone knows another radio headset with no battery and preferably with lcd screen for 6600?
Barabba
17-04-2004, 05:38 PM
Probably the 6600 don't drain out power from the headset plug.. so is impossible to power on something extra.
Maybe the other nokia models have the featursse to support any drive-kit or preamplificated micro..
It could be lovely if someone confirm surely this opinion.. So we don't need to be dubt about this buy..

There is no good one at the moment! Only the nokia music player do that! It can use it own batteriy or use the hp power. But the comment i heard from user is that the radio scanner sucks and it big and clusmy!

Hey guys
I have a HDR-1 which ive had for a few years now my bro bought it for £90 when it first came out
Its not a bad little MP3 player/Radio apart from the battery life can be quite poor depending on the make of battery. But its a pretty good lil device. Back lit like the nokia 3310(green LED, could change to another colour maybe...:D)
changeable sound styles (rock, pop, classic etc)
repeat, repeat 1, shuffle etc
i was meant to try it with my 6600 but never got around to searching for the cable
my 32mb memory card is crap really as i think i have about 6 songs on there at 128kbs which is pretty poor
but apart from that the radio is good and the player itself is quite nifty.
Just letting you all know about my experiences with it as ive had it a long while

Kewl. That's really good news. Because I've already bought an HDR-1 and it's on its way to my door. Express Post too! :D
Can't wait to test it on my 6600 (should work, the jack and charger are next to each other ... and I have used things like Car Kits that supports 3310, and they work on 6600 too)
Peace out!

can HDR-1 use the phone's battery?
nk_au
26-04-2004, 04:45 AM
I'm not sure. But seeing the connector between HDR-1 and 6600 connects the headset jack as well as the charger port. (Its compatible because it has the charger and headset jack parrallel, unlike other phones eg pop ports)
It connects to the charger port, so I presume it might use some power from the phone's battery. I'm not too sure though.
I do know that my AAA Battery lasts about 5 hours of 40% mp3s, 50% radio, 10% handsfree :-P
