Hey, I've always tried to keep as much of the 6MB memory on my 6600 free. Is this a good idea, or doesn't it make any difference to the running of programs?

I'm not sure, but I have to test that out. Have to copy my 7610 Black theme over to Memory Card lol :D

nope, not a chance. by freeing space, it wun increase speed.
its the programs that runs in the backgrd that slows down your phone. such as jj keylock, heavy themes, etc....
or upgrade ur firmware, it will improve the operating system and improve the way programs start up n fixes some glitches, bugs, etc, so in the end your phone seems to work faster.
maybe install intel chip in ur hp....

I don't think that it does anything... well at least it doesn't do anything in my N-Gage.

So if my Nokia 6600 got firmware upgrade to 4.09.1, the Symbian OS will run better and more efficiently? Themes can be run a bit faster?

yup. however pls dun have too high expectation in the firmware upgrade. 6600 is still a 6600. the hardware n processor is still the same. its jus abit tiny little bit faster. but say goodbye to the ever-problematic psiloc shit. u cannot use that anymore.
anyway, i feel that the program is shit, so thats ok. i only use the advance profile extender for its keylock function only. well i can do without it. :)

So the 6MB mem is storage mem only and thats it? Cool I can start using it more then :)
I thought it might have been like my old PocketPC, where the storage space is shared with the program ram, so the more u put on it, the longer things would take to load etc

Yep, it's just storage.
I remember my Pocked PC was like that too...
