when you got it connected and got the infra red active on your phone, have a look in the top right hand corner of the screen of the 6600 for the irda active picture (its in the manual) if its flashing then it isnt conncted to your PC, if it isnt and is constantly on then its def connected to your PC and i have no idea whats wrong? :)
think your best off with a card reader tho and FExplorer

FExplorer is like the Symbian equivalent of Windows Explorer - ie, you can browse through the phones file system.
Card readers are USB peripherals. What you do is put your card in it and you can access it and read data to it. Without it you will read the MMC from your phone via USB cable.

You can also try Seleq for file exploring.

SeleQ seems to run slower than FExplorer. The only advantage I found from SeleQ was you can Mark and Unmark files to copy/paste all at once.
About your Infrared, do this:
Right click on "My Computer" and click on Properties. Go to Hardware, then press "Device Manager". You should see your Infrared listed under "Infrared devices". Right click on it, and select Properties. Go to Advanced, and change Infrared Transceiver Type from "Sigma Tel 4012" to "Sigma Tel 4000". Then go to Speed Enable and change it from 4000000 to 115200.
It should work now. If it doesn't, post a reply
