I have a new 6600. After i bought the phone ive installed some applications and games. Then i restarted my phone but after the main screen appears it reboots itself in a 6-8 seconds. I cant do anything because it restarts itself everytime. Do you have any idea why does it happen?
Thanks for your help

Try taking out your MMC (if you have one) and see what happens.

If not then you might have to format your phone.

i've tried open without mms and sim card but if i open it such that the phone reboot itself

i think to format the phone but i cant risk it because it can be closed by formatting . isn't it so dangerous to close by formatting ?

not dangerous, ive formatted my fone about 5 times since ive had it. lol just shows how much care i take when installin dodgy apps.

"crap, its buggered again. ah well, quick format should do the trick" :)

What he means is that, it's not good for your phone if it shuts itself down during the formatting process...

You can always try that Green Key (answer call key) + * + 3 format thing.

I recommend the Green * 3 when you format, because you're going to lose all your data (as long as its backuped on your PC) so you might as well format the Symbian OS rather than just the software

ah i see, but then, when i last formatted my fone it didnt start up right, just hung at the nokia logo like it was doing ever since i got that v4.13 software on my 3650. so i switched it on and off a few times and took the battery out, then just left it and it started up.

how many ways are their to format your phone???

i know of the *#7370# code, and the option in s-tools and in the settings somewhere

but whats this green key * and 3??? same thing or different

It's a bit different way of formatting I think. It only works on the 6600 as far as I know.

well, the 3 buttons format is to bypass the lock code, and only works on 6600. and it deep formats the fone.

well, the 3 buttons format is to bypass the lock code, and only works on 6600. and it deep formats the fone.

I want to get this straight to you guys about Lock Codes on a 6600:

Before you do a *#7370# format, it requires you to enter the Lock Code. Once entered correctly, the phone will begin formatting the software. After the format is completed, the Lock Code is back to 12345 instead. But that's only if you know the Lock Code!

If you do the Green * 3 format during startup ... yes, you do bypass the Lock Code. But after you successfully format the phone, the Lock Code hasn't changed!

So what you can do to prevent people bypassing the Lock Code is to set it so that the phone asks for a PIN Code and a Lock Code during startup, and when a new SIM Card is entered ... a Lock Code is required to authorize the "entrance".

So seriously guys, you cannot just bypass the Lock Code by doing the three-key format (Green * 3)

Peace out! I'm going to get my intelli-sleep ...

Tzeonn, you ain't ignorant ... cause most people think you can bypass it

I had the thought at one stage and I was like "What? Crap, my 6600 can be stolen anyday and my Lock Code will be bypassed! SH1T!"

So I did the experiement. First format with *#7370# and see what changes have been made, then the three-key format.

So that's why I'm saying this: everytime you need to format, do the three-key format (Green * 3) cause the Lock Code won't change and you will be safe (unless you forgot the Lock Code)

Hope some people learn from this, and they teach me something new too!

if the fone reboots as an error, in the 6-8 seconds previous to the reboot,
press the menu key, and the fone won't reboot. This is what i do and it obviously works for me.

bye bye

there is a fault with your phone my phone kept on doing this i sent it back and got a new one since then i have had no problems do not let your network provider fob you of and say there is nothing wrong with the phone i am on orange and they have admitted there is a problem with some 6600 phones.
