i'm looking to purchase a flasher, primarily for my ngage. any recommendations? :-?
the twister flasher looks very interesting. it's also seems much cheaper than griffin. :-P i'd like to here people's experiences with this box and any comments.
i'm looking for a place that ships to canada and accepts payment by credit card, as well. ;)
just a few more posts, and i might just get the griffin platinum from uCables.com at 35% off.

What about a Prodigy or a Prodigy Clone.

hmm. i did see that prodigy clone for sale on uCables. nice and cheap, but the only thing that concerns me is the lack of upgradability and lack of support. it doesn't mention supporting the ngage, but it does support other WD2 phones.
there is that huge prodigy clone thread in the DCT4 flashing forum though. :)
how much does an original prodigy go for? isn't the twister more feature rich? :-?

Hi,
I asked this is a simular post, but didn't get any real reply.
I want to play around with flashing DCT3 & 4 phones and I am looking for a cost effective way of giving me access to as many phones as possible.
I want to start with DCT3 (Cos phones are cheap and if I kill, wot the hell!). But ultimately want to move into DCT4. So I am looking at a kit that I can add leads to over time to give me the maximum number of available phones.
Prodigy seems to be winning at mo, especially since the offical uk distrubitor is now doing original Prodigy's @ £120!
I know I can get the clone cheap, but is this a false economy??????
Any suggestions, greatfully received.

Not much you can do with DCT4... all you can do is add languages, upgrade software version and unlock.
DCT3 is way more fun lol :D

In fact.....
I have just noticed that even with the 30% at ucables, the prodigy clone comes in at £133 but the original is only £120!!!!! (From the dude advertising in the sales section).
Hum, which should I buy???? Original I pay shipping in the UK and clone I pay the shipping from spain (i think).
. o O (THINKS: Maybe ucables should look at their prices!)
Hard choice!

On uCables the Prodigy is €133 NOT £133 lol... and NO... you cant modify DCT4 flashes.

Yeah sort of my mistake, got the prices on the web site to show 133E then when I click on 'see price in your currency' it automatically puts the original non discounted price in teh converstion box! So thats why I was getting £133!!!
Kind of my fault for being blonde and ucables fault for not correcting the fault with the website.
The price is actually £97ish. But again, I still think for £23 difference and the difference in postage, I might as well go for the original.
I didn't realise that you couldn't modify DCT4 flashes, how come? Have they improved security or summit?

Yeah... they are encrypted
DCT4 firmware hasn't been disasembled yet and has some kind of encryption which makes it alot harder!

Hum, interesting. Has anyone made any progress what so ever in cracking the encyption? There must be a key some where on the phone to un-encrypt it.
Do we know what algorhythm is being used? And the strength?
This might be were I can give back to the community! (Fingers crossed)

I havn't seen anything anywhere about anyone trying to crack it.
If you could crack it I would almost respect you as much as g3gg0 lol.
It looks like everyone has given up on cracking it... well... I havn't seen anything on the net about it at all.
I hope someone figures it out one day lol :D

twister is looking like my best bet. :-P
the box looks nicer than griffin too. ;)
is griffin LPT? i like twister because its USB, and it already comes with an ngage cable.
its a shame uCables doesn't sell twister though. i want to make use of my discount!

Griffin is still best flasher in the market.
and i know what i'm talking about since i have them all.
but all those are proffesional service boxes...they have no use for hobbists since you cannot modd the DCT 4 flash files.

@alinus
i'd hope griffin was the best because its really expensive! :-P
so did you say you own the twister? would you say it's better value for the money than griffin? :-?
i'm really confused as which to get.
thanks for your input!
