It happens to everyone's 6600. Even mine
I think its a software/firmware prob. But make sure to take the picture just when there is enough light to see what you're trying to take the picture of
Hopefully, Nokia will make a Symbian phone with 3.2 Mega Pixels, mirror, flash and PROPER night mode lol :-P

u mean to say all 6600 has this kinda problem?i don't think so cos i see in some web that they say taking pics with 6600 is much better in nite mode but my problem is that even after the pic is taken (nightmode) the pic also carry the glittering dots.....
i don't think all 6600 has this problem but will resolve with nokia centre later.anyway, thanks for the reply ,at least i know it is not only mine mobile has this problem
PS: i never have any camera nitemode problem with my previous 7650.So they downgraded the soft when we upgraded the version!!!?

well its a normal problem in 7650, and 3650 also in 6600..
its because of how the night mode lightens up the focused object. you cant do anything bout it.

it's not a problem with only the 6600, it happens with every digital camera if the sensitivity is increased beyond a limit, on some, more than the others. It happens because the pixels get saturated with light. It is completely normal, and not a problem.

its cos nokia are lazy arses and could be bothered to pull their finger out of their, u no whats. There is no point in 'night mode' the camera is just slow, dodgy pic, they should have integrated a small light. eg. samsung e710. well that my opinion anyhow

Unless you've got something worth saying, don't share it with us...

EXCUSE YOU, contradicting yourself... you just replied with a pointless post, and more to the point dear, i was CLEARLY stating that nokia should place a flash on their cameras...

Im not gonna get involved in slaggin each other off, but telling us nokia need to pull their fingers out of their arses is not clearly suggesting. Just saying "there is a need for a flash" would have done the job. Also, in low light conditions, night mode does make quite a difference, praps you are using it in very low conditions so it looks like it is doing nothing.

i think the night mode is good too... if ur gonna take a picture at night where the motive is far away... lets say of a landscape, the light wont help. but the nightmode will. and it will never be too much or too less light

Night mode is also helpful for taking pictures of TV's or monitors as you can get it in sinc and get the full pic without scan lines all over it. The p800 has a handy option which lets you set the cam to 60hz so you can get monitor shots, but night mode does the job as well.

In that case i appolagise, i just find the nightmode pretty useless, come to think of it, ive used that camera about 5 times nd ive had it since october :| Anyhow, i hope the camera is a big improvement on the 7610, i tink that wil be my next fone. Are there any other symbian phones comin out from nokia later on this year anyone? cheers

I think it's a great idea having night mode, and nokia have implemented it quite well, (as compared to the Samsung e700). However a bright light or a flash would be much better (Motorola v878)

I read somewhere there is 3 planned for the 3rd quarter??? So, thats the big one everyone don't like in one of the other threads, the 7610 and another which noone knows anything about. Not sure about the differences, but gives us all plenty of choice.

i kinda like the night mode on my 6600. anyway, the dots u see are noise. im not referring to the sounds we hear. but engineers calls it noise cause by amplification which in this case is light...

I have experienced a similar problem upon taking nite shots but can be reduced according to careful placement of light you use to illuminate pictures. Have some shots where street lamps were bright enough to pick up some great distant shots, overall you cant really expect miracles from a 680 x 420 pixel camera, but try downloading applications like foto fusiopn, rite etc. which can help.

has anyone ever used night mode during the day??? from what i remember when i tried it on my 3650 i actually got a better quality pic than when i used the normal mode when i took a pic of the same thing, unless it was just a fluke? :)
