I'm interested in this beauty. Wonder how much it costs?
Expansys.com.au lists the 7610 as A$1,009.95
But they list the 6600 as A$868.45 when its worth about $450~500 now on Ebay AU
So, when do you reckon it will be released and how much would it be?
Can't wait to get my hands on it ...

The prices vary from shop to shop, but it probably will be around the $1000AU mark...

Well, the 7610 is planned for 2nd Quarter:
1st - January, February, March
2nd - April, May, June
3rd - July, August, September
4th - November, October, December
So, today is the last day of May. I should be seeing my 7610 soon, in a month!
Unless Nokia is going to delay things like they always do ... :-x

I wouldn't be so sure. It takes time for the operators to get it out to supliers, so you will be looking at mid summer at the earliest. I really fancy getting one, and the main suppliers for the UK have got the fone listed at coming out in the summer. I also fancy getting one cheap off ebay, but until people have got the contract fones to sell, we aint gonna see any, which is really annoying.

I'd get one if I had the spare cash laying around, it looks really good.

I've run out of spare cash now lol :-P
I guess I'll be saving some cash in the hundreds ...

I've just had a look on the various high street phone shops for the UK and they have it listed as coming out in July. The first few models on ebay will hit the £300 mark i recon, so its gonna be august before they fall to an affordable price closer to £200... Well, plenty of time to save up the cash...

01-06-2004, 11:57 AM
Kewl, thanks Musicb0ffin for the info! Probably same timing for Australian markets?
ahhhh the 7610!!!!!!

Found two Nokia 7610 Ebay listings at www.ebay.com (American, not Australian):
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=32957&item=4193115431&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
GBP $430 approx. AUD $1,101.63
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=64355&item=5702680619&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
USD $688 approx. AUD $962.17
They are both shipped from Hong Kong lol. Looks like Asia is the only place that the 7610 has been released!
Guess the phone does cost at the 1000 mark, like gophermaster has predicted lol :-P
So, I have ... 700 more dollars to save :D ~ and if I pass my Music Theory Exam, that will help me put down the "need-to-save" amount by 500 ...

I would have thought it would be similar timeing for you. You could try looking on the website of the high street shops you have in AU. Might provide you with some info. I don't think i'll buy one for that price!! Once some hit the UK markets, the prices for UK buyers will be much less. I hope....

Can play MP3 but no stereo? Isn't Symbian? WTF?
At Nokia.com, the Nokia 7610 features say: "Symbian operating system 7.0s"
What the hell is going on? Nokia Care is bullshitting me, right?
gophermaster
02-06-2004, 10:28 AM
Hahaha, I thought that the 7610 was Symbian...

02-06-2004, 11:29 AM

it gotta b symbian man... and i tot it has stereo too? (pop port)
or, could b she/he mistaken it for another model.

lol, must b a new nokia staff who emailed u....
That's what I thought. Or a total idiot who is naive and ignorant.
it gotta b symbian man... That's what I thought ... it has to be Symbian because of those buttons: Menu, C, Pencil Shortcut etc
and i tot it has stereo too? (pop port)
It should be, and I hope so seeing that it supports a Pop Port.
or, could b she/he mistaken it for another model.
Maybe ... but he gave correct details about what comes in the Original Box (compared to details at www.nokia.com)
Musicb0ffin
02-06-2004, 11:57 AM
WTF??? Bit of a major mistake on the description if that is the case. Might be worth checking, but all of the pre release models ppl have looked at HAVE been symbian, so i think we are safe.
momagic
02-06-2004, 02:02 PM
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
it has to be symbian!!!!!!!!
nk_au
02-06-2004, 02:05 PM
I will trust MobileBurn, Nokia.com and Nokia.com.au rather than just one person from Nokia Care. I think its Symbian. But MP3 with no stereo? :-? What the hell is Nokia thinking there?
Goshogun
02-06-2004, 03:07 PM
LOL it is a symbian phone!
Im sure that guy is mistaken or a Nokia Care center n00b

Sorry, am i missing somthing? It has MP3 support? Thats fuckin wicked...
nk_au
03-06-2004, 09:09 AM
Yea, the Nokia 7610 can play 3GP, MP3 and AAC in the RealOne Player. So yes, it does support it.
What puzzles me, is that the 7610 is Mono sound ... :-? - no info listed on Nokia.com whether its Stereo or Mono
Hope to god its stereo ...

The Nokia 7610 has already caught my eye.
I love the looks, the 1 Mega Pixel and the 10 minutes Video Recorder.
Musicb0ffin, how much do the various sized RS-MMC cost in your country?
Musicb0ffin
03-06-2004, 12:41 PM
I've already decided I'm gonna get one... Just as i find out more and more details i like it more!!
Right, RSMMC's....
In the good old UK, these are the prices:
32mb Kingmax - £11.16 or AU$29.42
64mb Kingmax - £17.62 or AU$46.46
128mb Kingmax - £27.61 or AU$72.80
256mb Kingmax - £56.26 or AU$148.34
I can only find Kingmax cards at the minute, but those prices seem pretty good to me. (Source - Ebuyer.co.uk)
This shows they are a bit more than regular MMC's, but there we go...

03-06-2004, 12:46 PM
ive just noticed there is no mention of the nokia music player featured in the n-gage so no reason to apply stereo as the phone isnt designed to play mp3 and stuff, you all play mp3 on 6600 with 3rd party apps yeh?? all thats with the 7610 is that it has pre installed the latest real one player which supports mp3 and aac files thats all it is, pop port is just a connective cable thingy like the usb connectivity for n-gage differnce is with pop port you can access the device memory where as n-gage you can only access MMC
Musicb0ffin
03-06-2004, 12:49 PM
Yeah, that makes sense. Ah well, you can't have it all...
nk_au
03-06-2004, 01:05 PM
Kingmax RS-MMC? I had a bad experience with their MMC before ...
So the Nokia 7610 might not be stereo? That's ok. It still has its sexy aesthetic appeal ...
At least it can play MP3 and AAC! With the included 64MB RS-MMC ... I dont think I can fit much in there. I'll wait for a 256MB or 512MB RS-MMC released in Australia before I actually boogie down to the beat
Musicb0ffin, I'm sure you won't regret buying the Nokia 7610. I didn't talk you into it, did I? :-P

Let's hope! But first, to get the phone ...

- mono sound for the listening of the MP3 (through loudspeaker).
- no protection of the objective of the camera.
=========================================
Ok, there you are! Nokia was so close in making a "perfect camera phone". Nevertheless, I'm still buying the Black&Red 7610.
This information is for those who can't make up their mind whether to upgrade to 7610 or not ...

2. Dont know exactly the speed of the chip, but running faster than 6600.
3. Clear and Brighter screen.
4. 8Mb Internal memory > 6Mb (6600)

Does the End Key light up as Red?
Do Nokia 6600 themes work on the 7610? If so, what happens to the Positioning and Presence icons? :-?
