I haven't been here in a while, but two things:

Someone brought up a good thread earlier that needs to be revived: where does everyone plan on getting their RS-MMC cards? Especially here in the Americas, they're not exactly on every street corner (The 7610 is a godsend of a phone, but I'm still wonderin why in gods name they couldn't spare a centimeter and a half somewhere for a full size MMC slot). If you've found them, post where, what brand, and for how much.

Also, anyone gotten any N-Gage games runnin on the 7610? I have a 3650 and haven't tried it myself, and I know not many have this beautiful little creation of Nokia's yet, but so far some people have been talking about not bein able to run em on the 7610.

Anything else anyone wants to add or ask about the 7610, feel free.

Sorry tzeon. People just get off topic easy in those and i figured the forum could use a 7610 collective info thread. Suggestion: make a stick thread (or even a new forum) for the 7610.

O, and if someone wants to know bout the phone, go to:

www.infosyncworld.com

All that "no stupid questions" mess is bull shit.

I Spoke to Kingmax in Becoming a Distributer for the RS-MMC Trade price for 1 is $135 for 256meg and $70 for 128meg

its new technology so it will be pricey for a while to me nokia new this very well and have some sort of partnership with Kingmax because they keep quoting how its totaly designed for 7610 and no other product.

what a Joke like the Phone costs 425 English pounds to buy over here any way.

your looking at $150+ for one in the shops

there's some samsung phone that's supposed to use it too. but you think they could have spared the few cubic MILLIMETERS of space to fit a full size mmc.

Did you contact kingmax directly or a retailer? Checked the site, couldn't find rs-mmc on any of the retailer's sites, so i'm guessin you talked to kingmax themselves.

Yeah but things have do and have got to advance else we would be stuck with the same old technology forever. Hmm maybe CF cards would be in phones if nothing ever changed?

It is inevitable that as the demand for the RS-MMC grows then so will the supply. The price will subsequently drop.... you just have to be pateint ;)

i found a singapore website selling rs-mmc cards. I personally have been to that shop to buy batteries and accessories and found the shop owner quite trust worthy. So use the price as a rough gauge. As for the brand, i've been using it for my ngage and it hasn't given me any problems and it's pretty reliable... so.. have fun :D

HaHa! Another good reason not to buy 7610! Save money from buying larger capacity rs-mmc card!

to quote somebody i read in another thread::
These RS-MMC Cards are highly integrated flash memories with serial and random access capability. It is accessible via a dedicated serial interface optimized for fast and reliable data transmission. This interface allows several cards to be stacked by through connecting their peripheral contacts. These RS-MMC Cards are fully compatible to a new consumer standard, called the MultiMedia Card system standard define in the MultiMedia Card System specification. The MultiMedia Crad system is a new mass-storage system based on innovations in semiconductor technology. It has been developed to provide an inexpensive, mechanically robust storage medium in card form for multimedia consumer applications. RS-MMC Card allows the design of inexpensive players and drivers without moving parts. A low power consumption and a wide supply voltage

Capcity:32MB/64MB/128M/256MByte
Compliant MMCA Specification Ver 3.2
On card error correction
Two alternative communication protocols:
MultiMedia mode and SPI mode
Variable clock rate 0~20MHz.
High speed serial interface with random access
support dual channels with interleave for flash memory.
Add MMC card adapter can be use in MMC card
external programming voltage required
Damage free powered card insertion and Dimension: 24mm(W)x18mm(L)x1.4mm(T) removal

so... this means i could buy two 256Mb's and stick em in... and then i've got 512?

No... There is only 1 slot and 1 set of contacts... Not quite sure how you work out having 2 cards gives you double the capacity...

Oh, i see... I wouldn't have thought so. Its very similar to MMC, just half the size.
