Hi,

Mp3 song file goes arround 4-5mb/song, hardly 5 songs fit in our usual 32 mb card in 6600, so try this out. Get SOUND FORGE 5 or higher, open a mp3 file and save it as real media file, remember to change 128kbps to 56kbps in advanced options which is more than enough for the phone (no difference with the converted file and original MP3 like bass and quality) and one more thing is u need not have a third party MP3 player. ENJOY Guys .em very happy and enjoying with this.

hey, thanks for that pal.

i have been converting mp3 into amr format. well quality is rather poor (like old radio qulity) but it can really pack a hell lot! ard 200KB to 500KB in size for a full song! :)

have you tried diet mp3? you can convert the mp3 into a much manageble size, a 5 mb song can be compressed around 3 or 4 mb. without changing the bandwidth, etc... and there other functions for changing the settings e.g. from stereo to mono ( useful if you have a 6600 coz its mono, no use of having stereo), from cd quality to tape or radio etc and many more. if you change a song suited to a 6600 you can compress a 5mb song into a 1mb or 2mb!
and i have a question man, you change the bandwith to a lower level and you said no change in the quality. how can that be? coz i think if you change something in the mp3 your changing the quality in some way... :???:

he meant that on a 6600, an mp3 of higher bitrate will sound no different compared to an mp3 of lower bitrate. cos 6600 mp3 playback can be pretty poor compared to normal music player.

with dietmp3:

3mb -> 700kb (tape quality, mono)

and absolutly NO quality drop.... i compared the original mp3 and the one converted with dietmp3 and theres no difference when played on the phone

I use DB Power Amp Convertor to convert my MP3 to:

Encoding: Constant Bitrate
Bit Rate: 24 Kbps
Channels: Mono
Frequency: 16000 Hz

They usually end up as 700~900kb. The quality is alright, seeing that they are only being played on the 7610 (mono)

Can't wait to get a 256MB RS-MMC ... :D

hmm, great, another option...

but the file still seems big for a cute 256MB still.

so is dietmp3 smaller?

If I reduced the Bit Rate and Frequency, it would make the file smaller - this I know

But will it make the MP3 sound softer in RealOne Player on the 7610? :-?
