Hi all,

So i was testing out PPMEdit but couldn't get the 8250 (upgraded from 8210) to work properly with the PPM that i had edited (just new fonts) - it would restart every 30 secs as though FAID was not recalculated - but it WAS recalculated. I later found out that after editing, the PPM's checksum did NOT change compared to the original PPM's checksum - weird no? (i thought the checksum was meant to change when the PPM was edited)?
Any ideas?

Anyway, i went to flash the normal 8250 PPM back using rolis 4.77, but accidentally selected the FULL flash to be written! So when i clicked GO rolis erased 200000 bytes starting FROM 280000 (the beginning of the PPM, if i remember correctly) to 480000 if my calculations are correct. I stopped it a few seconds after i had realised what happened, but it was too late - i read back between 280000 and 480000 and it had indeed erased it all, but not written anything.
I thought i had killed my 8250 (8210), but after sending the full flash back properly, it worked fine - except that it asked for the security code EVERY time it switched on for the next week or so. Now it is back to normal.

Does anyone have any idea on what i actually erased? Data has now reappeared back between 400000 and 480000. Where are the things like sms counters and TX/RX calibration settings stored in the phone? Are they in the area i erased?
Also, what does the 'update UI settings' do when upgrading from 8210 to 8250? - it error'd when i tried to set it, but the phone seems to work just how it should.

Sorry for such a long message :-)

Simon.

The PPMedit will auto update the checksum when you save the file after edit.but some it have problem to update checksum, than you have to do it manually.you can try to update ppm checksum using ppm-manager.

for this, i think it has erased the eeprom area.after flash it back with full flash. you must/can update FAID ,clear SP lock,SFR with rolis nokiatools v18.
