Nokia 7610 - MP3/AAC & Headsets

Nokia 7610 Stereo debate!!

I've been on the net constantly trying to find out if the 7610 has STEREO output for MP3/AAC files.

My findings favour that it does NOT via the Loudspeaker but I have yet to find out if it does via a Headset eg.

Nokia Fashion Stereo Headset HS-3

or the

Nokia Stereo Headset HDS-3

Has anyone out there tried a Nokia 7610 with any of these headsets or others ??

I have also edited an .mp3 file to alternate between left & right channels, in order to test the phone with (Obviously stereo has 2 channels!!).

Either way it makes no difference (to me) if the sound is STEREO or MONO (I just like the phone!) but i'm pretty certain it would clear up the debate for others with the same question.

Users using a stereo headset with the 7610 are reporting that sound only comes from the left side. If it was hardware mono, wouldn't it sound from both left and right at the same time but with the same sound? That is my experience with mono sound. That would mean that it could be a hardware stereo but a firmware mono.

nk_au, ask this guy if he knows if its the LEFT channel of the tune coming out of the LEFT speaker.... or if its MONO (both right and left) sound coming out of the left speaker. it its mono sound then theres no hope. maybe the phone doesnt understanding that its a stereo headset, and therefor only playing in one of the speakers?

well if its the left channel coming out then that means that the phone is able to see whats left and whats right so that means stereo!

No it could just show that it recognises and plays one stream.

If you've ever seen a TV or anything else with 3 RCA (red white and yellow) inputs, and you've only got one sound cable it always tells you to put it into the left channel.

I think it's a mono phone.

I think it's MONO too!! Haven't received my phone yet (now 2moro!!) Anyway i'm gonna post the audio file for others to try.

The Nokia 7610 is definitely Mono.

But ... there are some rumours with some evidence of the 7610 potential to play Stereo. Might have to wait and see :D

If 7610 is mono, i think it will be mono forever. Why, because mono is a hardware thing. When we say mono, that means the device has only one audio amplifier. How do we convert this to stereo, we must add another audio amplifier inside to be able to play the left and right audio channel. Sad to admit but adding another amplifier is simply not feasible.

SO BASICALLY SO NO WAY TO INCREASE VOLUME !.......ITS SOO SAD THESE NOKIA PPL.....ov tried like usin audio editores to increase volume (Db gain) but then it jus rips like hell !
