View Full Version : 6600 and O2 settings?

Can someone help me out please.
Some people say MM2 works on O2 in conjunction with 6600, some people sy it don't. Well my experience is the latter, I cannot get it to work at all, I have tried getting the settings sent straight to the phone etc. but honestly I cannot even get WAP to work! It keeps coming up invalid access point. (at one stage I did get the wap to work, but have never ever got MMS to work though)

I was wondering if there is anyone on here that has actually got the O2 and 6600 working together? If so, would you be kind enough to let me know the exact settings to put in?

Much appreciated.

(PS I have searched the forum first, but nothing what I am looking for, just links to o2 website etc.)

How old is the sim with 02? you might have to contact them to enable GPRS as MMS uses GPRS. Newer 02 sim's should have GPRS on but not always.
If you got your sim off the web you'll have to contact 02 (e-mail [email protected] - expect a reply within a week).
If you got your sim from a shop then go to the shop and they should do it for you.

The settings for GPRS WAP are:

Connection name: 02 WAP GPRS
Data bearer: GPRS
Access point name: payandgo.o2.co.uk
User name: payandgo
Prompt password: No
Password: password
Authentication: Normal
Gateway IP address: 193.113.200.195
Homepage: http://wap.o2.co.uk
Connection Security: Off
Session Mode: Permanent

And the settings for MMS are:

Connection name: 02 MMS
Data bearer: GPRS
Access point name: payandgo.o2.co.uk
User name: payandgo
Prompt password: No
Password: password
Authentication: Normal
Gateway IP address: 193.113.200.195
Homepage: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
Connection Security: Off
Session Mode: Permanent

If these settings don't work then find your local nokia service point and if the phone is less than a year old they should re-program it to the latest version.

Before you take it to them go the Extras menu on your phone and go to Memory. Click Options and Backup phone mem. as when they upgrade the phone it wipes the phone memory out. Take the memory card out before giving it to them and when you get your phone back go back to Memory and Restore from card. It should work fine after that.

I got the sim from an O2 shop and it is an O2 ONLINE sim.
See that is what I was meaning in the first place, they are NOT the settings for 6600 as 6600 don't have gateway IP address.

Can someone who owns a 6600 and uses O2 give me the EXACT settings please?

i think its hidden away within an option???? i remember messin about with my friends 6600, he's on o2 online contract and we noticed that he didnt have any wap gsm connection, just wap gprs, mobile web, mms etc. and cos i had a wap gsm connection on my 3650 we tried to copy the settings.

from what i remember there was an option when you set up a new access point that opened out into aload of other options including the gateway ip address

just have a look around everything in the menu

btw, if it didnt have a gateway IP address it wouldnt be able to access the net at all

hope this helps :)

Go to www.nokia.com/nokia/0,6771,32863,00.html

You can then download the Settings Wizard (sis), which will configure the phone automatically.

or send them to your phone via service message

Good luck
