ok the only thing stopping me getting a 6600 is the video recording restriction,

today i took my final a-level exam now i have 8 weeks of doing bugger all, so ive decided im gonna have a play around in the summer now and see if i can make one

i got fairly decent programming knowledge and im in the process of getting the symbian SDK

also im getting this which looks very promising

http://www.forum.nokia.com/main/0,,034-424,00.html

"Nokia 6600 Camera Plug-in for Series 60 SDK 2.0 for Symbian OS

The Nokia 6600 Camera Plug-in enables developers to create applications utilizing the APIs for the built-in camera in the Nokia 6600 imaging phone. The plug-in is compatible with Series 60 SDK 2.0 for Symbian OS and Series 60 SDK 2.0 for Symbian OS Supporting Metrowerks CodeWarrior. The plug-in consists of camera headers and libraries for the Nokia 6600 phone, camera emulation and two basic examples demonstrating how to take snapshots and how to set options of the camera device interface."

so over the next few weeks im gonna strongly look into this little project, i will keep you up to date with my progress

and i hope there will be a positive out come

How about videorecording on mpeg or avi format?
It could be possible...

That will be good but I suggest u get a 1024 mb MMC card if really record in mpeg or even avi format and saving of the file will take a f**king long time!

well it is possible but would be very processor consuming, i dont think you would be able to get a very good frame rate out of it, what ill do see how i go with getting 3GP/MP4 out of it, if i suceed ill atempt an avi one

Wouldn't it be a whole lot easier to find a way around the standard video recs 100kb limit rather than making a completely new app?

I didn't mean changing the firmware i meant extacting the standard files from z then editing them and installing them on c or e.

Nice suggestion, but I think it can't be easily done. The file extracted may be encoded or compiled so the program script may not be viewable, some sort of intellectual property rights protection. Maybe thats the reason why leespud opted to write his program from scratch.
