.VOB to another format

hi,
sorry if this msg has been posted before but i was not able to find an answer in any of the threads. i was looking into dvd ripping and came across dvd shrink. once it is backed up onto the pc how do i convert it to a format that can be encoded by helix or any other program, as tha audio and video seem to be in seperate folders. pl help.

the reason i posted it here, is because i would like to encode it to a format that can be viewed in the 6600.
