I want to use my Sennheiser headphones with my Nokia 3650, so was going to get a 3.5mm to 2.5mm jack converter to do so:

Will this be compatible?
Also, I understand that the 3650 is mono - does this mean that I will only hear music in one ear, or does it just mean that the channels to both ears will be identical?
Thanks :)

most probably the converter cannot b used, it will show "accessory not supported", course i tried the ngage converter jack for headphones, got that.
and u get mono sound from both output, not sound in only 1 out put if it works.

Well, first of all i can tell you that it probably will work, BUT you have to put the converter into the jack in a special way. If you don't do so, the phones speaker will continue to play. (i've made a couple of these kind of converters myself, so i know about them :P)
But really, 3650 sound quality is awful.... plugging in some better headphones won't help... unfortunately.. tried it myself and got dissappointed. The 3650 isn't really a phone for music....

ok, that converter probs wont work. why? because the actual handsfree earphones that are usually used with these phones have 4 connections. standard 2.5mm and 3.5mm stereo jacks have only 3 and mono jacks have only 2.
it could work if you could somehow work out which connection on the handsfree is for the mic and which is for the earphone then you might be able to use a converter.
i asked a guy in maplin electronics and he said i could try it but if it didnt work i could short out my phone, didnt really want to risk it at the time :)
all ive done is taken a standard hands free from my 3310, whipped open the mic cover, unsoldered the earphone, cut up some old stereo earphones i had and soldered them back onto the circuit board for the mic. now i have 2 earphones that are mono in both ears and got a volume control (that was allready on the old earphones) all combined with a hands free.
the sound quality aint too bad, but i agree with nfotx, its not made for music. however if your like me who doesnt care too much about sound quality, its great cos i get to listen to my fav tunes on the move :)
oh and that problem where you have to plug the jack in slowley so it doesnt play through the loudspeaker as well as the hands free is easily cured. just get the latest firmware ony our phone, v4.13. this will solve it. i took mine to nokia care and they told me that a firmware upgrade would fix this and it has, doesnt matter how fast i plug the jack in now, my mp3's only play through my modified hands free
