hi,
Is anybody else having this problem with the 7610? everytime i go to send one of my ringtones that i downloaded and then sent through bluetooth, say in Fexplorer, it says 'unable to send protected items, send unprotected?' u press yes, and then it gives you crap about copyrighted stuff. back with my 6600, i could send anything, no problem. this is also happens when i go to send installation files of games and apps. once again, never had the problem with 6600. yet it doesnt have any problem sending my mp3s across to people.
so my question is, has anybody else come across this annoying problem or better yet, managed to combat it?

I know a lot of folk with this problem on 7610's and 6600's with later firmware. Some people have suggested renaming the file extensions but the one time i tried it it didn't work.

I've got a 6600 with that problem and changing the files' extension before sending them works for me...

ya, just change the file extension with a file explorer like fexplorer, change from .sis to .si, or .mid to .mi, etc.

Yea, I used that method (sending a Java Game from my 7610 to my mate's 6600) and it works.

However, is there a program which can "bypass" this copyright-annoyance?
I doubt it, but one can dream :D

ah, good tip guys, cheers.
just one thing though, if you go to send a file to another phone, say a game or what not, by renaming it, won't the other persons phone not recognise the file type and so not instal? same with ringtones. what phone is going to recognise a *.mi file or a .si file? as it goes to the inbox of the phone when sent through bluetooth/IR.
thanks

Whoever you send it to will have to name it back on their phone. Kinda sucks if they don't have a file explorer that can browse hidden folders.
