Expansys MMC 245Mb instead of 256Mb!!

Hello to everyone!
Just to inform that Expansys MMC capacity is wrong.
I bought (on expansys.it) a 256Mb MMC but my 3650 recognize it as 245Mb MMC.

They calculate 1 Mb = 1000 byte instead of 1024!! so 245 Mb = 256000 byte!!

I asked to Expansys to correct their site but they told me that the difference it's normal and depends by format...

Be carefully if you plan to buy a 1 Gb MMC from expansys...

Not a big deal, this happens with every MMC card. It comes as a factor of two things: MB can be defined as either 1000KB -OR- 1024KB. I don't know why, I don't know when either conversion is used, I just know that both are used and it causes this problem. Moreover, some of the space on the MMC becomes unuseable once it's formatted. My Simpletech 128MB only proveds 122 MB of space, even though it's a 128 card. My card lost 6MB of space. Yours, being twice the size, lost 11. Expect a 1GB card to lose almost 40 or 50 MB of space.

It's natural. I have a ATP 512MB RS-MMC inserted in my Nokia 7610 ...

And the total capacity is 490MB. I'm sure the 'lost space' has gone to a good cause :D

this is normal...

right click on ur c: on ur pc and u shld see a smaller amt compared to the one stated. it has to do with mem allocation.

Well ... I just said ... I have an ATP 512MB RS-MMC and its reliable, trustworthy and compatible.

The system speed isn't slowed down. But, the camera takes 1 second longer to change between Camera to Video Camera

But think of the bright side ... i can fit >999 High quality megapixel (1152*864) pictures now! :grin:

The same for my Extrememory one. Turns out to be around the max you can get with a 256Mb card.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! perhaps there should a sticky on why memory cards do not have full 128,256,512 or 1gb space.............

if u have a computer..... do u check yer hard disk space?????
if yer HDD is 20gig.... check if u have 20gig.....
