its small..sleak..and have many functions than the 6600..the only it dont have is irDA, but who nids it when everyone are bluetoothing.

btw, the sound is better on the 7610. :grin:

7610 of course! Yes, it has everything the 6600 has and tons more + its smaller. But it doesn't have irda, which makes my favourite app (ir remote) useless. I own a 7650, so i think that my judgement is fair....

Pros - 1.2 MP camera (if you do the math), RS-MMC, Slim profile, very fashionable, clear screen, slightly(very very) faster, Light, Mp3 (mono) player, Bluetooth, Pop-port
Cons - Slow camera, No Infrared, very fashionable, slightly reduced sharing capabilities (i.e. renaming of .mid .jar or .sis files to send) Mp3 (mono), ackward keypad layout.

6600:
Pros - good night camera, MMC card slot (up to 2 GB), Small yet kinda chunky, traditional keypad layout, Bluetooth and Infrared.

Cons - Chunky, Also a slow camera (prone to pixel burn), Prone to hanging and Slowdown, Heavier.

Final verdict:
The 7610 & 6600 are pound for pound both good phones. The 7610 being more for the fashinable and 6600 for Business People.

Both r good in their own areas! N6600 more cheaper,7610 more fashionable and smaller.But one more thing n6600 can do more than n7610 is n6600 can play n-gage emulator which n7610 cannot.Hehehe.... :-D

And I believe you might be wrong ... as the 7610 has a faster processor and more RAM (confirmed at a web site. it was a big site, forgot the URL. i'll find it soon)

And even if it has the same processor ... (from the eye) the 7610 is definitely faster than the 6600 in terms of loading the camera, applying themes and viewing a long list in Manager.

I'm sure the other 7610 owners can agree with me (unless my 7610 is extremely lucky ... which i doubt! :D)

The 7610 runs at 123Mhz and the 6600 runs at 104Mhz even though it is the same ARM9 chip. This whole thread is kinda pointless since the 7610 is the 6600 replacement and therefore was always certain to win.

The 7610 has the same amount of ram as the 6600 so ram isn't an issue. It seems to depend on the firmware whether you can play ngage games or not (and I know your all going to have the same firmware version but there are still differences between different operators firmwares etc). Also I don't think flight mode will work on the 7610 since it's never worked on the 6600.

no man i meant compared to da n gage........u know the gage is liek either 10mb ram or 12 mb rm.......hence sum of da games which require dat much ram will fail to play on our phones.....(6600....7610....3650)......games for e.g. ashen ....tony hawk.....etc. usin da .blz format

Again, both the games you mentioned work on the 6600 so it's still got nothing to do with ram.

Hey - I had the same idea but when i tried to activate flight mode on the 7610 with system tools it tells you to reeboot the phone and take out the sim.... - only problem is that when you turn the phone back on again it says 'insert sim' !!!! :???:

If you leave it for about a minute it will ask you if you want to enter flight mode. IF YOU FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET THE NGAGE WORKING ON THE 7610 PLEASE LET ME LNOW

only played around with one once but one thing i liked was that you can go up on a menu and it takes you to the bottom, like when you want to view the details of a picture, on the 6600 you have to scroll down all the way but on 7610 you can just press up once or twice and u r there :)

My fav phone out of those two is the 6600. I even HAVE one of those just since a week. Reason:

Looks. Chubby = cute, at least for a phone
Feel. Fits my hand as if it were made for it. 7610 kind of uncomfortable to hold.
IrDA. Yup, i use that, coz the bluetooth is buggy on the PC side (can't send files from phone to PC)
Image. I'm gay but the 7610 is in my opinion a woman's phone. The "male" equivalent is the 6670.
Joystick. Way easier to play games with it than with the "key".
And... last... i don't want to have the same phone as my boss!!! (female and real dragon).

I have used both, the 7610 in form of my boss's and two female colleagues, for tests, fixing cabir infection on one of them and installing stuffs. I am just not comfortable with the feel of the phone, it doesn't suit my hands. The 6600 in turn does, Nokia must have made it specifically for me. I upgraded from 3650 last weekend. Megapixel? To be honest, i don't see ANY difference between pictures taken of the same object with either phone, as long as the pics stay in the phone. Haven't seen a 7610 picture on the computer yet, but i am perfectly happy with the 6600's picture quality.

About RAM and CPU - according to "PhoneInfo" application, the CPU in the 7610 (two of them in my office) runs at 104 MHz too. Which ones run at 123 MHz as someone mentioned? Or was that overclocked? :) And as far as i know, both 7610 and 6600 have 10 MB of RAM available, but the 7610 has 8 MB phone memory compared with 6 MB in the 6600. Therefor the 6600 can use the (cheaper!) fullsize MMC's.

Oh, and as OS both of them run Symbian 7, otherwise the 6600 could not use themes :)

I totally agree with Thanh.

I like 6600 the best, because of the comfort holding it and the ergonomics.

Only thing that is a little better on 7610 is the 1mp camera. But as he says, on the phone screen, you cant see any difference at all. And if you want to take very good quality pictures, you wouldn't use a phone anyway. As long as i can see what's on the picture, and it isn't all crappy, it's enough.

Btw. i got a totally new 6600 + 512 mmc without plan, for the same price as 7610 with plan. Me like

What OS do You use Win98 or XP?
I had some problems before too with 98, reinstall all Widcom drivers (install everything), than right click on BT icon and select "Accept file"

Now I use XP SP2. Just right click on BT icon and select accept file (Without any BT drivers).

Works fine!

I been thru a hell of an odyssey, with Billionton (manufacturer) giving no service whatsoever etc, spent countless hours trying to get it to work - now just gave up.

I use Win XP pro, SP2 and a Billionton USB bluetooth dongle. When using the Windows stack (like you seem to do "no bluetooth drivers"), then i can send files from phone to PC by "receive files" but can NOT send from PC to phone and can not use PC Suite either. With the Widcomm drivers, i can send from PC to phone and use PC Suite, but can't send from phone to PC. Either driver, it's always a "one-way only" affair.

So for now i send files from PC to phone via BT and from phone to PC by IR, if i have to transfer a whole bunch of pictures or other large files, i pull out the MMC and pop in the reader. I can also use PC Suite itself or Desktop File Manager, but sometimes i just want to quickly sent a couple of pics i took over the day and don't want to click a million things, so i just beam them via IR which always works.

OK,here we go...
once and for all,7610 features a 123 Mhz arm4t core.6600 features same chip but with 104 Mhz.Run the Sp04 mark symbian benchmark on both phones and see the results if you're not convinced.
7610 uses symbian s60 v7.0s,while 6600 uses symbian s60 v6.1.Obviously both phones can use themes,but 7.0s theme features more customization options that you will not see if you install it on a 6600.It will still work on 6.1 but with less features.The same applies to symbian s60 v8.0 themes (used by 6630 & 6680) that uses brand new customization options (such as full icon replacement,transparent boxes & bars,icon smooth masking & more..) specific for that version.If you install these themes on a 7.0s or 6.1 device it will still work but on a much lesser form.Got it?

Ah, i forgot my vote: go for a 7610.
But if you can wait a while go get a 3230.it'a 7610 evolution in terms of specifics & features (such as fm stereo radio,1.3 Mpx camera,proper joystick etc..) and costs less.But it's design is a bit on the 'classic' side.

I have no idea about the CPU and i don't give a damn about it, but with the OS, i know of. Because i used a 3650 before, which runs Symbian 6.1 and can NOT use themes AT ALL.
