Phone; 3390b v2.01
software; DCT3 Flasher by Rolis v4.78b6

i have acquired the 4.78 and it does show 3390 in its supported,
however, at the end of the backup process, it gives me 'bad checksum' errors.
i have checked the cables, the battery, and i have increased the lp1 delays 1 through 5 and i keep getting the same error.

i am trying to back up a 3390b, while selectig 3390 in the software.
could that be the cause?
3390 is NPB-1
3390b is NPB-1RB.

is the checksum considered bad because of the mismatch?

any help would be appreciated.
also if anyone can point me in the direction to get the rolis flasher versions higher then 4.78, and/or 3390b firmware v2.03 files, that'd be great too.

thanks for your time.

Hmm...

Have you tried other programs at all?

man, i have tryed roughly around 20 different programs
i learned two things

1) most of them are clones of one another
2) none of them work

i had harvested from a total of 4 software sources and posted on 5 forums.

so disappointing, i wasted a whole(full) day and no breakthroughs to show for it.... :(

one strange thing i found was that Rolis 5.14 actually supports less phones than Rolis 4.78b6 (former excludes 3390)

can ANYone give me any insight on this?

Unfortunately we dont have anymore 3390b's handy to go through the motions. You will find similar problems with unlocking them as well.

When we flashed them we used OEM Wintesla because a quick check revealed the problmes you are experiencing with Rolis. Im sure we could get Dejan or kNok to work so you might want to try playing with them. You say you are trying to back them up so do you just trying to read them?? We can send you the OEM Wintesla Flash file if you like for a back up.

Im sure you know the 3390b is of no use really unless your using T-mobile as the 3395 has more capabilities and works with T-mobile,Cingular and ATT.

As to the v5.14 there was never such a true version. It combines a old version of Rolis flash with an old version of Rolis tools..

There newest versions are 1.8 of the tools and 4.78b6 ver 2 of flasher... As far as the difference between 4.78b6 1 and 2 couldnt tell you, we asked Rolis and said it was trivial.. could of just been a mispelling or something.

thanks for the responce phonedudes.

kept at it wit hthe knok for 2 days and finally a breakthrough.
awesome...
id like to point out although some claims have been made that 3330 settings suffice for 3390, in my attempts they did not. i had to go to models.cfg and create a dedicated 3390b with the exact MNP, and it worked.

i am fairly certain that even for the origianl 3390 a seperate entry has to be made, as even the -1NR made the difference.

now however i have another problem,
the software damaged phone i reflashed with the working firmware now sports the IMEI # of the copied phone,
worse, it says SIM not accepted

when i run EEPROMTools and try to do a manual IMEI change back to original. it does that but then it also attempt to do the factory reset(!!!) the same thing that got me into the trouble in the first place!
after the FAILING factory reset the problems are back again, and i have to reflash.

any suggestions on how to change the IMEI back to the original without eepromtools automatically trying to do a factory reset?

also when i click the update authority ID after the flash it also attempts to do the factory reset and also fails, prompting to repower on the phone and try factory set again.

is there anything else i can use?
