I currently have a 6600 and love it, the only thing that I think that could be improved is the sound. It's too low and has one small speaker.

What symbian phones are out or coming out that will be better equipped for sound? Are there any that have stereo speakers?

The 6630 will have stereo sound when it comes out but i'm not sure if it has stereo speakers or just a stereo output. The sx-1 has stereo but you don't want to be seen with a seimens, no matter how good the sound is. Why not get a 2nd hand ngage.

Hate the look of it and it's a childrens phone.

Like the thought of a 6630. Does the 6670 have stereo?

I guess what I really want is one that has a louder, clearer sound to it. I've gave midi files that I've had on my 6600 to someone with a worse phone and they sounded much better as the 6600 doesn't have a decent speaker.

6670 = 7610 with different keypad, so no, it doesn't have stereo.

6630 seems like it will have stereo output for headphones and speakers, but it would be pointless to have a stereo loudspeaker. As I've explained before, stereo or mono DOES NOT affect sound quality. Only difference is stereo comes from two separate speakers and can therefore create a basic kind of surround sound effect. It would be pointless to put two speakers on a phone since they could only be at most 10 cm away from each other, and therefore the stereo sound wouldn't be noticed.

But to answer your question, I'd wait for the 6630 and see what the final reviews say about it. It seems like they'll finally get the mp3 player right. Plus it'll have stereo sound with the headphones. But even the 7610 is only monotone and still doesn't have quite the quality of an i-pod or even n-gage.

Yeah, like you say, the best thing is to wait and see what happens with those phones. The 6630 is the natural progression from the 6600. I'll have to go in a shop and compare with my ears when it finally hits the shops. Hope it doesn't dissapoint, can't go without my yearly phone gadget upgrade!

Just remember: don't judge it by the loudspeaker. Such loud sound coming out of such a small speaker is obviously gonna sound like <tihs<. It's like playing music through headphones real loud and expecting it to sound good. Make sure you test it with headphones.

Thing is, I'll never EVER use headphones, it's more for a decent ringtone sound than anything else. Maybe playing video's/movies.
