View Full Version : Some questions about N-gage QD

I just got my N-gage QD and there's some questions I'd like to ask.
Whenever the speaker is activated there is some kind of background noise. The noise is also there when I play games but it's less noticeable.
When I use the headset however, it's quite annoying. Is it like this with all N-gage QD's? If it is I guess I have to live with it.
The there is another thing. It's seems impossible to choose to store messages on the MMC. Am I missing something? It was possible with my 3650.
And the last question. I tried to install a .sis-game that was on my memory card. It was 1,4 mb big. Still I got the "not enough memory" error. Why is this? Finally I managed to install it by deleting some files. But I didn't think N-gage would have these problems.

With N-gage QD (also N-gage) you cannot set the inbox to E: unless you use "MsvDriveE" prog. It will automatically move the inbox to E: and you can uninstall it after that
And for the installation prob, I think there is not enough space left on C: (since it needs to copy the sis file to C:Nokia\Install\.. in order to install). With the big sis file, try using UnMakeSis to help install

It's generally a good idea to not install any apps (apart from the ones you have to), on your Phone's internal memory, 3.4MB isn't a lot compared to a 512MB MMC card.
ANd yeah, before any installation on your phone's memory the *.sis file gets coppied onto the c: drive!

Thx for ur answers! :-)
I have another problem. I noticed the contrast on my QD was quite dark compared to my 3650. Changing the backlight didn't help. I found in some other forum that other people also have experienced this. Someone also said that this was a "bug" that came with firmware 4.0. I also heard that Nokia relased a new firmware 4.10 that will fix this problem. Can anyone confirm that?

More questions. "Game manager", is this a useful app? I read that it's used to delete game files. When I try it, it starts searching then exits with an error message. Could it be because I have some copied N-gage titles installed?
Offline profile. I tried it. It seemed to work, but I noticed no increased free RAM like with "flight mode". When I wanted to change back to the normal profile, the phone rebooted. After that it just hanged at the Nokia logo. Scared the crap out of me, but the phone worked after removing the battery. Has anyone noticed anything similar with this "offline profile"?

i aint got a qd, but my guess is the game manager is when u use an orig game in qd.
regarding offline, it merely stops all gsm signals, thats all. y would u wanna increase ram instead when it has enough?

Yeah, the game manager is to "manage game files". I believe Fexplorer can do what it does.
No, I don't need to increase ram on my QD. But I just noticed that it didn't increase ram like flight mode does.
But the space on C: is something I really would like to increase. I got about 3,4 mb free now, and it's impossible to install a 1,8 mb file.

well, move a 1.8mb file to mmc, then install from there.
or use unmakesis.

1,8 is much to large for me to install from MMC. The limit for me is about 1,3 mb.
