serious error! please help

hi there, i have a nokia 6600 and i have noticed that i have a problem with it.

if i transfer java files or appz to it and then try ton install i get a "General: System Error!"

i have hard formatted the phone this morning as the phone was doing the same thing prior to format,

any advise would be greatly appreciated (apart from take it back to shop[out of warranty])

thanks in advance, i have been searching all symbian forums for some help or advice and drawn a blank.

hope someone can advise. (would a soft reset do it:?, if so do i loose everything on phone, like hard reset?)

Hi,
does this happen with Java apps only or what?
I hope ur using PC Suite to install these java programs. If not try it.
If such problem continues then i recommend you to do a hard reset. This will surely delete all data from your phone, but u can take backup of your contacts on either ur sim or ur computer(using PC Suite).
If u r planning for hard reset, please keep few points in mind. These surely helped me.
1. See that your phone is well charged, and do this reset with charger connected if possible.
2. Format ur memory card before doing a hard reset, else some problems may persist even after reset. This is something that i have heard in many forums and so even i followed it religiously without asking any questions.
3.Try installing some tested java softwares to be sure of what you are installing.

thanks for the advice! have done hard reset yesterday! but not formatted the card! will back up all data via pc suite then format card and phone again and try again. will post again soon

You can get the code here..... Its *#7370#. :wink:
i guess u have read the procedure mentioned above. Follow them and hope ur phone gets back in shape!
