After sifting through loads of sites it looks like the 6630 has started shipping in some parts of the world, I found a few sim free on ebay (a couple actually looked genuine).
For us in the UK it looks like we'll have to wait for Vodafone to start their 3G services, I think that should be 20/11/04 (but i'm not 100% sure). The other main service providers will launch before xmas, there's some more info in this link http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/3739834.stm
If everything goes to plan I'll have my 6630 in a fortnight

Nice one Yuppo...
I have been un able to find any hard information on the 6630 or the 3G networks in the UK.
I know that Vodafone have bagged the 6630 for a start... but I'm tempted by O2 and Orange. (me and t-mobile dont get on...)
I'm also a little concerned that the networks will stop you from sending/receiving emails from "other" ISP. I'm currently get my email and home internet access from PIPEX and have both a wannado and pipex account on my 6600 accessing email via (o2) GPRS. Hope they dont restrict you to their own email. (It's so handy being able to check my home email when I'm out and about!)
Also I cant find any information on pay-monthly tarriffs for any 3G networks... they arent giving us much information considering there is less than 2 months til christmas.

It seems that my previous info was shite :-P
Vodafone started offering 3G services as of 10/11/04 but they still haven't released the 6630 they only have a choice of 4 rather nasty bricks so far http://www.vodafone-i.co.uk/live/3g_phones.html looks like we'll just have to keep waiting
Found another link on vodafones site saying it's due in December :x http://www.vodafone-emailme.co.uk/vfemailme/coming_soon.jsp

I tried the 6630 in a shop yesterday. I compared it to 6600, and it seems a little bigger but not much.

my experience with upgrades are they are more than twice the price of new connection!! i suggest if its 12months cancel your contract and take out a new one, but my experience is with vodafone, im current on o2 so would be interesting to find out how it goes

O2 is the same, it costs loads for an upgrade. My mate tried to get a 7610, £180 on an upgrade or free on a new contract! I haven't seen an offical sim free price yet but i'd expect it to be significantly higher than a 7610.

Did another search today and found a lot of sites in the UK selling the 6630 on contract as well as payg, unfortunately it's not on vodafones site so I'm still not sure if it's out yet or if the other sites are just taking pre-orders. Only one way to find out I suppose, I'm away to phone one of them :-P

Any chance you'd care to share the addresses of the UK sites that are selling it on contract...
Also I saw it simfree for £459.89 on "Direct Mobile Accessories"

Awwwww man... that sucks!
I just called the vodaphone shop where I live...
I asked if they have a release date and all they could tell me was "coming soon". I asked if I was able to use Voda's 3G network to access sites outside of their own and they said "no, you can only use it within the vodaphone live network!" Which stinks...
I will be going down to the shop when they get a "demo" handset in to see if I can configure it to access my pop3 email or if I'm lumbered with vodaphone's equivelent.
If they are gonna limit me to their netowrk then they can "do one" and I'll wait for it to come out on a more liberal network...
That's like buying a PC and only being able to access your ISP's home-page! Forget-that!

The site is www.mobiles2yourdoor.co.uk but I wouldn't bother, I phoned them and they said they didn't have any and wouldn't until at least the end of the month. The fools shouldn't have it on their site saying "buy now" if they aren't even sure when they are going to have them, bawbags.
That's really bad news about the 3g restrictions. I had feared this because the 3 network works the same way, what's the point in having a high speed mobile connection when all you can connect to is 30 pages trying to sell you midi ringtones :x mind you Vodafone has been selling data cards for laptops that run on the 3g network and surely they can't be restricted to the Vodafone network.

Woo hoo, the 6630 is up on Vodafone's site, unfortunately it's out of stock (which raises the question why release it if they don't have have any, but anyway). Hopefully other suppliers will have it soon too, I've asked a few, most were closed because it's the weekend, a few didn't have it yet and one said to try back on Tuesday.

I got one in Worcester on saturday, £50 for the phone on the £40 hero tarriff.
Awesome phone !
It came with the Camera docking station for free ! But as it doesn't have a connection to allow PC Syncing, it's fairly useless IMHO.

After spending all Saturday afternoon, part of Sunday and all day today calling round various shops and online sellers I finally found one with them in stock. They said they'd phone back in 20mins, an hour later I was still waiting so I phoned them back and they said they were very busy in meetings but they'd phone me as soon as someone was free, that was 3 and a half hours ago now :-x but while I was waiting I took another look at the vodafone site and they are in stock :D Mines should be here Wednesday am  Now i'm just waiting for that other company to phone me back so I can thank them for taking so long and saving me £50
My deal was 200 mins cross network and £12 free mms, sms or gprs per month plus a load of free guff for the first 3 months for £33 per month and £100 for the phone.

I have just spoekn to a very helpful lady at Vodaphone, and am happy to let you all know that they are currently offering the 6630 free, as an upgrade. The only catch is that I have to move over to their 3G service, but it doesn't change the way I can use my free minutes or the cost of my bill, but I do also now get 30mins of video calls free per month as well. I am on the 200 Cross-Net minutes, costing £30 per month, so a free upgrade to this phone is amazing.
I should have my phone within a couple of days, all going well
If you want this one free, just call and upgrade
is there any automatic keylock function in 6630?
i have one but could not find any option about this?

The video calls are great (My brother and his GF and my Brother-in-law have them and it's fun to be able to see who you are talking to) but... there one slight probelm: The 6630 has no forward facing camera (you need to buy the attatchment to be able to do this. I saw the phone on Sunday (and the attatchment) in the Vodafone shop in Nottingham, but they were too busy to be able to give me a demonstration.

Lol, mines came free with a cradle but I don't get a 3G signal anywhere even remotely near me so I can't try the video calls either

That happens with me too, it's the symbol that come up when you have a 3g signal (i had one once in Glasgow) but for some reason when I loose signal it appears, it'll probably be fixed in the next firmware.

Any ideas as to when the 6630 is coming out on the other networks in the uk (i.e Orange, O2, T-mobile)? I was told that vodafone had the 6630 exclusively for a two week period, which should end tomorrow.....
