Hello again, dear friends.....

That phone of mine BF, that 6260 that is, drives me completely nuts!!! I ranted already about the non-working volume slider in the mp3-player, and the stalled "Web" application which was re-activated with *#7370#.

Now, that phone is good at it.

Just wishing to show him a nice WAP site, firing up that darn browser.... and seeing the following:

"Web: Memory full. Close some applications, and try again."

Well, no other application was running. The phone itself showed 6.0 MB free memory, the MMC has some 15.4 MB free. Several apps that have been added are all installed to the MMC, and yesterday evening AFTER installing Torch and IrRemote it was still working!

Needless to say, bootet phone in "save mode" to eliminate eventual hidden startups, but still - same error. Then the cruel *#7370# again - and STILL THE SAME ERROR!

I then uninstalled IrRemote - needless to say, "Web" still doesn't work. BUT after the last *#7370# the darn volume in mp3 player works! And therefor the operator logo (actually, just the operator's name, since no logo was ever loaded) has disappeared, leaving an empty space.

Are those Symbians created to drive their owners completely insane? Is it the law that only a certain number of things can work as they should, if something new gets added (or fixed), something else has to be screwed up????

Now, at you Symbian pro's here... how can i get that f***ing "Web" once and for all to work again, AND the original operator name back, AND the volume please STAYS working????? Is that ANYhow possible?

Please, guys, excuse me my language but i am really pissed off at Nokia now. I think that this Symbian 7.0 is a huge pile of crap, it should have never been released. I paid the equivalent of one month's salary for this phone (because here in Thailand we don't earn much, yet the phones cost the same as in the rest of the world when they're new) and in all the five days since my boyfriend owns it, we had already more problems with it than with both our old phones combined during the last full year! And all stupid things like above, apps that all of a sudden won't work any more, or just crashing/hanging phone. FED UP! But i don't want to bring it to Nokia "care" because they for sure will say "sorry, too new, don't yet have equipment... wait few weeks". As they usually do when they bring a new model of phone!

Please, someone tell me how to get it done... i count on you experienced guys here. And in the meantime, keep your hands away from the 6260, i can only warn any of you - that phone is nowehere near to be released. I feel like a beta-tester for Nokia, yet instead of getting paid, i have to pay THEM.

Kindest regards........

your Thanh

Same old story i'm afraid. The first firmware on a few of the Symbians has been awful (7650 and 6600 in particular) the only solution is to wait, probably a couple of months till they release new firmware then get it flashed at a nsc. I know it sucks but that's the price you pay for being first.

A way to get your op logo back would be to use fexplorer to set a custom op logo (its about the 8th option down in the file menu) then remove it again by deleting the file in c/system/phone/oplogo. It's not guaranteed to work though, op logos can be strange things. My ngage won't allow me to change it at all, my 6600 changes between my custom one and the operator name and my mates 7610 switches off like yours but only sometimes.

Hello :)

Yes, i too had that first-experience already.... but then with a Siemens, which i was one of the first to own in the whole country. After a few weeks it had to be replaced because it was full of bugs.

Hmm i read that op-logo trick yesterday somewhere via Google, and it worked, i mean setting a custom one via FExplorer and then deleting that file. It did the trick. But now i uninstalled FExplorer and EVERYthing i ever installed on that sh..phone, still "Web" won't work, even after *#7370#ing it a dozen times.

I just called NSC 15 mins ago... and, exactly as i predicted: "Sorry sir, this model is too new, we yet do not have the service software".

Hey Nokia, THEN DON'T F***ING THROW IT IN THE MARKET!!!! Get the service software to the NSC's first, THEN bring the phone on! Hell where were we if GM released a new car and only months later invents the tool to change it's tyres, because the tools for other cars don't fit? (and why the hell does Nokia need different service software for every different model of phone, even if they're all Symbian?????)

I think i'm going to sell thgis piece if crap and get my BF a Panasonic, because the japs are trouble free, guaranteed.

Kind regards.....
