Hello....
New phone, new problem (well, not really but an annoyance). I got this 3650 now, and been playing around with ity for a little while. Now i am always coming acrtoss the following message, when trying to install some app:
"Memory low. Please delete some data."
Also Opera complains that it has too low memory to start, it claims to need "at least 2.4 MB" on the phone itself.
Now, ALL my apps are installed on MMC, and there are the ogg files, pictures, video clips, etc etc etc as well. Now, how can i "delete some data" when the only data on c: and d: is apparently the operating system's data? Besides, i use FExplorer and accumulating the amount of memory used by all the files i can find, i come nowhere near the 1.8 MB as stated "used". There must be some hidden files. How do i get to those, and can i delete anything *safely* to get more memory?
Also, why do "Installer" and "Opera" need such large amounts of memory..? Particular "Installer" annoys me with that, even tough i got 2.2 MB free, it won't install ("save to installer") a sis file of just 850 kb. After deleteing another (small!) app from the MMC (!!!) it did it. The tested thing was "Sysiconz".
I think that putting in a larger MMC won't solve this... or?
Any help greatly appreciated :)
Kind regards.....

Make sure you actually exit all programs by using the exit option instead of the end key. If you have any open programs you can close them quickly by holding the menu key. That'll bring up a simple sort of task menu. You can use it to switch between open programs or press clear on an open program to exit it. Make sure you restart your phone once every few days, too.

Hello :)
Thank you guys again for the replies :) I did check out those links, however it did not help too much. I know about how to shut down apps that run in the background, and i usually do reboot the phone after installing or uninstalling something. Also the trick with the .sis files won't do too much since there are some, but all very small, and combined not even 60 kb.
Now, "flight mode" looks like the ultimate, but remember i have that memory problem mainly when using Opera... and in flight mode, without SIM (!), i won't really need a browser... no SIM = no network, and no network = no GPRS, ergo = no need for browser :)
However i just today bought a new MMC card, and the friendly guy gave me a little "bonus".... fullversion of Netfront, that is, plus fullversion of "Camcorder Pro". Now, that "Netfront" was an older version than the one i had as a demo (1.0 from the MMC guy, 1.02 downloaded from internet). Installed it - started it - and seing a menu that was NOT there in 1.02: "Select Memory for Cache". I set that to "MMC" and even tough the cache is now set to 2 MB (512 KB before), i got now 2.6 MB free mem on the phone :)
By the way, my new MMC is branded "NCP", has a capacity of 256 MB (245 shown in phone "Manager" app) and works absolutely flawless. I am just now in the process of converting some 100+ mp3's to .ogg so that i can upload them (via IR.... gonna take me all night i guess). I paid 1.500 Baht for that thing (some 37.50 us$) and, as mentioned, got two apps fullversions for free along with it. And it comes with a 5-year-warranty (free replacement!)
Kindest regards......

I'm not sure which version of Netfront I used in my 3650, maybe it was 1.0. It had the option to put the cache on MMC.
And it seems a good price for your 256 mb MMC. A little cheaper than in my country. ;-)

whoops. underestimated you thanh. My opera does that every 2 pages, it's all about deleting the cookies, history, and cache every new page you visit. Even then it runs out of memory. Thx for the NetFront tip, I might have to start using that instead. I'm sure you wo'nt be using Opera much now that you've got netfront anyway.

get fexplorer which is freeware from http://www.gosymbian.com , install it and then open it. push the right softkey and under the tools tab (or somewhere like dat) choose compress memory. This will free some unused ram and thus enabling you to use some apps.
Hope this shit helps

Hello again :)
Thank you very much for all the replies :)
@smpballa240:
Yes, i agree with you. I did install Netfront, and on saturday i had the guys from D-TAC (my GSM provider) sort out the settings (it took two engineers 45 minutes to figure out why i could not connect... it was a wrong IP, one only for WAP!) and after that i explained THEM how to use Netfront, since the only browser they knew was Opera :) However, Netfront is far from perfect, but i guess that there is no such thing like a "perfect browser".
Netfront seems to have no rendering capability. My very own website looks so beautifull on my boyfriend's phone (Opera!) but on mine (Netfront!) it does not show the background image (a small tiled bmp) and other pictures are not shown as well, just little red "x". Yes, i HAVE "show pictures (all)" enabled. And after i opened a few pages, it STILL runs out of mem and truncates the current page, which makes it useless for, say, hotmail. Even tough i use MMC as memory for cache, but i guess this is about RAM (heap memory... different from cache memory). Well, at least it DOES show some of the images, and the text wrapping is worlds better than on the original "web" application (again, the D-TAC guys didn't know that that application can access www sites as well....) But now i have deleted Opera :) Netfront does the job, and i got "Mango" at 50 Baht/month to get into my hotmail, inclusive attachments download.
@AzN_dude_69:
(nice nick by the way) I have that FExplorer already, it was about the first thiung i installed on that phone :) I think that it is one of the most usefull applications around... without it i could not upload all my ogg files to the phone via IR (i got to get one of those card readers... pain in the ass to transfer 100 MB of songs via IR) and the feature of sending just about any file via BT to another phone - fabulous.
This brings up my next questiion, i am sure some of you guys know the answer. I created several folders on the MMC to put my ogg's in and sis files as well. Now, those folders, or shortcuts to them, are shown in "Images" and i do NOT want them to be there! Because, it takes 5-6 hours to upload all those songs via IR and just 2 seconds (wrong click) and the folder is deleted from that "Images"... AND from the MMC! Is there an app that can add an attribute "hidden" to a folder on MMC? In a way that this folder can be seen by applications (ogg player!) but not in the "Images" folder.
Also i came across a rather strange problem but for that i'll make a new thread :)
Kindest regards.....

Hi there :)
I tried that, but doesn't work... i create a folder, set it to "hidden" and send it to phone via IR.... it shows a brief data transfer but no messagewill be received from the phone, and also no new data visible via FExplorer.
Maybe with a card reader?
But there should be a way to make these folders "hidden" right on the phone? I will google for that :)
Kind regards....

dun tink hidden files will be "hidden" from view in phones. system folder is actually a hidden file already.
y not move the folder else where instead of in images folder.

Hello :)
Thank you for answer. Hmm but i did not put this folder in "Images", in fact i just created the folder on "drive e:" using FExplorer. I also wonder why it does show up in "Images". I can in fact delete that folder from "Images" and it will be deleted from drive e:! And that is precisely what i wish to prevent.
On mine 3650 it looks like the "Images" icon in "Menu" is in fact a shortcut to "Drive e:" instead of being a shortcut to "Images" folder in drive e: because i can see there other folders as well, which are on drive e: such as "videos", "Images" (!!!), "Nokia" (which again contains "Images" and "Videos"), "Others" (?), "Photos" (a folder that i created on drive e: as well in order to store pics), "SIS files" (another folder created by me in drive e: to hold, well, SIS files if i should need to re-install some app), "Sound clips" and "Video Clips".
I am looking for a way to either make these folders, all except "Images", hidden so that they won't be displayed in "Images" from menu, OR delete those "shortcuts" without losing the actual folders.
And yes, "System" is a hidden folder, because it does NOT show up in "Images" but in FExplorer. I just tested, saved a simple picture in the root of drive e: and it promptly appeared in "Images" under "Menu", so this "Images" is definitely a shortcut to the actual root of the MMC card!
Any way to change a Menu-item's properties (something like "edit shortcut preferences")..? I don't mind downloading another app to get it done... FExplorer obviously can't, and Psiloc's "System Tools" also can't.
Any help would be greatly appreciated :)
Kindest regards.....

psiloc's filemanager can do the trick and even seleq..i don't know about fexplorer as i am not using it...only used the 2 files i mentioned.
this 2 filemangers can change the folders / files attribute..(ie. set it to hiden)
for seleq, just go to options - properties and browse to it.
cheers.

Hello :)
Thanks a lot for that reply! I had a trial version of that Psiloc thing, but never bothered with it because FExplorer is freeware and did a good job... however i now installed that Psiloc eFileManager, and yes, i could set those folders to "hidden"!
Now my problem is solved :) But on testing i found that the Ogg-player application didn't find the files anymore..... in order to make them available again (and keep the folder hidden!) i had to set the attribute "system" to this folder as well. Now it works perfect.
Again, thanks a lot!!
Kind regards.....
