Hey,
Of course they do mate, this is wrong I'm afraid. All these appear to be are faster accessing mmc cards, nothing more nothing less just better cards.
Obviously the bigger the card the more files the unit it's plugged into has to go through, these cards make this task quicker by the looks of it.
If these were the only cards to work with 6630 they'd already be released, just as the 6630 is in some areas, except mine! :( :( :( Hurry up providers!
Panic over guys.... phew.

Hi,
DV RS MMC cards, and upcoming mobileMMC (according to some sources mobile MMC also will be compatible with 6630) cards is faster cards which work on lover voltage because that they provide less battery drain.
I contact some brands with question about mentioned card version and most of them told me that will release them untill end of this year or begin of the next.
But they also told me that in first release they don't go with higher capacity than 128 MB, so...
hope this help

It will be bad news, as I already said RS MMC wont work on 6630, as u said they even recognise them, it is beacuse RS MMC requide 2,7 volt at least and 6630 provide just 1,8 volt, it is not enough to power up RS MMC and beacuse that phone dont recognize them.
Conclusiton, every 6630 owner need a DV RS MMC card or upcoming mobile MMC cards, bad points is that noone of them is not avilable jet, nothing before end of this year or first mount of next year...
Sorry for bad news
cheers :D

Yes, we can live with simple bugs of 6630's initial s/w version; the best thing is to be the first to enjoy this awesome phone!

Ooops, I may stand corrected on this, sorry guys.
Came across a good site to read, english is a little suspect but readable.

I hope it isn't so as this will really p--- me off!
Also :-
"I advise to wait with buying Nokia 6630 till the next year, for example, till the end of January. There are several reasons. The first and the main one is that the device though working stable has some software mistakes for the moment. The second reason is not so evident, hardware part will be changed a bit and thus renewing the software later won't be so smooth for the device."
Don't like that line!

Bad news about having to use DVRSMMC but did you look at those benchmark scores? It blows the 7610 right out of the water :D

I can't see no point using RS MMC from the beginning since Symbian phones weren't small anyway. And now DV RS MMC :-?

I hated the idea at first. But the truth is Nokia's been great about spearheading new technologies. They went with the smaller MMC instead of SD. Then they introduced even smaller RS-MMC's. Now they use an RS-MMC that requires less battery power. All of these steps have pissed me off, but the technology's gotta advance sometime . I'll sacrifice a few dollars for the sake of advancement.
Hopefully technology will continue to tend towards power efficiency in portable electronics instead of simply increasing the power source (e.g. the wasteful portable fuel cell concepts or the miniature turbine engines in development. Do you really want to have to fill ur phone's gas tank or have a small jet engine spinning inside of it?)
The less moving parts, the more power efficiency, and the more attention to detail, the better.

Reading a little further up the same webpage, I found this interesting:
"The absence of the second camera may not be considered a disadvantage, that is a niche function for the moment. In the middle of the next year a renewed Nokia 6630 will appear and it'll be equipped with the second camera and more memory."
This doesn't bother me, though - I've just ordered a 6630 on T-Mobile (yeah, I know T-Mobile aren't great...) because the price was just SOOO cheap, I couldn't pass up the offer! (12 month contract <Relax 100 - anyone, anytime>, £21pm -first 3months half price-, handset = FREE). Ok, so the handset will be locked, but I don't mind waiting for a solution to that, and in the meantime, I'll have a great phone for literally peanuts.
Zeus.

Maybe this 'renewed 6630' ... is the rumoured 6680?

Hey,
They said that about the 6600 to and they work ok with 512 or even 1mb cards, they just slow down a bit having to read the whole card.
I think if I recall Nokia actually said they would guarantee the card would work and that the warrenty doesn't cover the use of lager than 128mb cards.
Either way he's wrong & an over priced fool to!
