View Full Version : Is it worth switching my 3650 to an N-Gage?

And I don't mean the new QD which is crap in my little opinion. I've noticed I don't really use the camera in the 3650 that much and I'm tempted by the stereo mp3 playback and more memory for games in the N-Gage, should I switch? Btw, Doom works perfectly on N-Gage right? No need for flight mode or other bs? I just got an offer for a brand new N-Gage with some games and extras for $150 US, is it too much or just about right? Cheers

Hell Yeah! It is worth switching from a 3650 2a N-gage/N-gage QD. As u can c, i have 2 3650's. I luv them both, but i know if i wanted 2 play some of the hottest N-gage games. 3650 wasn't going 2b the phone that i could play them on.

And Doom plays excellent on N-gage right? I saw it on my 3650 for about 30 seconds and it blew me away but of course it crashed almost right away if it started at all...

One more thing...it's a bulky little fella, I thought my 3650 was big but that didn't bother me much but now I'd be carrying even more with me, doesn't that bother you guys?

No, not at all. I've used the classic Ngage, and i'll say the advantages of functions way outstrip that of size. Besides, if u want to look good, get a secondary, small phone then. never, ever encroach functionality and size.

How do you talk on that thing? I mean, how is the phone positioned when you make a call? Screen facing your head or...?

I love my 3650 but I use the camera all the time (250 pics on my phone) and don't care as much about the games (phone games get old quick, idk about n-gage games). Only thing I miss is an mp3 player. So if that's what you're looking for, then yeah get the old n-gage. Price sounds about right to me so long as you're getting a few games and accessories.

For using n-gage as a phone, I'd suggest using a headset. I use the one that comes with the phone but if you're willing to spend the money, get a bluetooth headset (I think you can get a good one for under 100 now). Hell, sometimes the bluetooth headsets look like tiny phones themselves.

P.S. Doom works fine without flight mode for me too, but I'm careful about keeping things off my phone and freeing up memory whenever I can.

I own an ngage, 3650 and 6600 and from the sounds of things you'd be better off buying a second hand 6600. The ngage's only real use is playing games. It is severely tedious for typing texts since two hands are needed and if you use it for phoning you look like a complete idiot. The 6600 is cheap second hand, plays enough ngage games to keep you occupied for months and doesn't look like a dogs dinner.

6600's great so long as you're willing to sacrifice mp3 player quality.

n-gage almost sounds like a dedicated mp3 player.

6600 sounds a little better than 3650.

I don't think there's a point switching to 6600, not much difference, I actually just bought an N-Gage, just waiting for it to arrive in the mail... I hesitated a little bit when I realized you have to talk to the side of that thing (it does look ridiculous) but the more ram, mp3 and decent games convinced me to buy it. I'm gonna have to get a bigger mmc though to put more music in there and obviously the n-gage games are much bigger than regular symbian games.

Hey Bogu! If ur gonna get a mmc. U might want 2 consider a 1gb mmc. A 256 or 512mb mmc won't be a enough. 4 all the current n-gage games & more 2 come b4 the end of this yr. :-)

I'd love to get a 1gb card, they're horribly expensive tho, over $100 which is more than half for what I paid for the phone... too bad the sd cards don't work, they're cheap. I think I'll go with the 512 for now

I don't recall Bogu. I would have 2 find my invoice, but keep in mind it was months ago. 4 months or a little more, the price might not even be the same. I have seen them 4 less now on many different UK Retail websites. Just do a search on 1GB mmc. A whole load of retailers will pop up in front of ur eyes. :)

Ok, I'll try and look for them, how is the sound quality tho? I'll find out in about a week but I'd like to know now...And I've read somewhere that u don't have to use the Nokia headphones, u can use your own, there should be a converter that comes with the package that u plug into the n-gage and u can use whatever headphones u like, is that correct?

Yeap, u can use any normal earphones with the jack. its actually another cable to let u record sounds/songs digitally via cable.
