help! memory card corrupted

i am using a nokia 7610...don't know what happened, but suddenly my memory card cannot be read by the phone. When I try to access the memory card, it says MEMORY CARD CORRUPTED. Would anyone happen to know what went wrong?

Will I still be able to retrieve the files stored in my memory card or do I have to just format the memory card? Can an ordinary memory card reader be used with the RS MMC?

U could try use a program called Mmcmedic. It's what i use sometimes when 1 of my mmc gets corrupted.

Even if you need to use MMC Medic ... you won't be able to 'save your data'

Formatting that memory card is inevitable ...

i have a nokia 6600 but the mmc got corrupted and i formatted in my pc with format with "fat" and transfered a file through card writer and the file installed successfuly on the phone but it doesnt open when I click it. Then I tried sending through bluetooth it didnt work still. what can i do?
its a 512 mb card.

Files was transfered or installed?
I can't send .sis files via BT too (from phone to phone)

Try to format your mmc using your phone, just go to your memory card then format it.

try a scandisk or a chdisk with your MMC card reader ...
Include surface inspection. Defective sectors mean that you should try to return MMC to your dealer.

Then try recovering recoverable data ...
If you fail and if the card has not phisical damage, then format
