I'm under the impression there is a new box serial for these
non of the calcs give correct codes !

The phone is probably new ASIC, or even a complete new code system.
I doubt a new boxserial will help.

I obviously can't confirm if it's a new DCT or ASIC version, however i have seen a set of unlock code direct from Vodafone ( UK ), they show that the box serial used was 32969, i don't have access to any 6630's ( working on it ) but thought i'd post in case anyone else did and wanted the chance to try out combinations, obviously any results please re-post, i will do the same if and when i get a chance to test :)

Could you post the whole code and IMEI (or PM it to me), we can soon see if it uses an existing ASIC or not, and this will be extremely useful..

This is very interesting englishpunk. If you do not want to post the IMEI and codes in the forum, please PM them to me so I can undertake a little testing. I have a two Nokia 6630 handsets here ready, both on Voda UK and will PM the results back to you when testing is complete

I have had some bad news, a Nokia employee of my acquaintance ( who's information has always been good before ) has advised that the 6630 is in fact DCT-5 :-?
I will talk to the person who gave me the codes ( he has more on-route for a second handset too ) and see if he is willing for them to be passed on, i know it sounds like a cop-out but i was given the information in trust ( i am a moderator on the whatmobile forums ) and don't wish to break that, i'll get back once i know :)
Oh, i should mention i tried creating codes for the IMEI with the correct network code under ASIC 2, 5, 6 and 7 and the codes were all different from the ones i was given so something seems to be different whether it's a new ASIC type or new DCT type

That is a little bizarre :???: I wasn't aware that Nokia actually referred to their handsets as DCT-3, DCT-4, DCT-5 etc so it seems a little strange that your acquaintance has been informed it is a DCT-5 handset by a Nokia employee. Maybe i'm wrong, but when you look through the Nokia site and tech specs on handsets, their is never any mention of DCT types. Are you sure your acquaintance isn't sending you on a wild goose chase?

You are correct in that the DCT revision of the handset is not noted in the standard handset specification, however they do exist and refer to security revisions, each new revision is different, thus algoritms need to be changed. The information was supplied by a Nokia employee who as i say has always given good information in the past and i have no reason to doubt him now, it's either a new DCT version or new ASIC type though ( proven by trying to generate the codes using box number and DCT-4 code generators ) so we know that much without his comments

Hi ENGLISHPUNK,
I need the unlock code for my 6630 registered with Vodafone UK. Will send my IMEI number though your Yahoo mail. I really need it quite ungently as I'm now abroad. Would need to use the local SIM to save my phone expenses.
Thanks in advance.

1) read the rules....NO POSTING OF IMEI'S FOR UNLOCK CODES !!
2) if you took the time to read the thread you would see that there is NO solution to unlock these at this time
the guy has only posted the codes to help those developing a solution to this
ANY UNLOCK CODE REQUESTS IN THIS THREAD WILL RESULT IN A BAN.....(or anywhere on the forum for that matter)

I'm pretty sure 6630 is NOT a new DCT generation.
It's a DCT-4. Like Symbian phones (except 6630...) are DCT-4 WD2, 6630 is DCT-4 BB5. It's probably just a new ASIC.
Btw, if we are talking about a whole new generation, i doubt Nokia would keep their old public mastercode algorithm...

As i say i can only go on the word of someone i know worked in the production ( r&d ) of the handset, though i would say that DCT-2 and DCT-3 used the same mastercode setup ( 10 digit ), so it is feasible that DCT-4 and DCT-5 might too, there's no real need to change it that i can see, the main changes are always in the background anyway, phone security and the like, but i guess we'll find out sooner or later :)

I call that an urgent need for completely new lock-system!!! :-o

but of course there's a need for a new unlock-system in sight of nokia...
we all can hope there's just a new asic-type for that phone, so we have to weit until anybody tried or get the new algorithm from anywehere :) for that asic.

Has anyone tried a 6260 as yet? It is the same series as a 6630, Series 60 Platform 2.0 (but not WCDMA) and early indications are that is also fails with current codes (I've failed on 2).
It may be jumping to conclusions, as we can unlock other Series 60 Platform 2, the 6600 for example. I was just curious if anyone else had tried to unlock the 6260??
Fark just orderd this on Vodafone for the misus and i was having the phone but it looks like ill be porting my number to Vodafone then

Hi all,
I have a friend who has got his phone unlocked (via cable by a bloke on the market) and is using it on o2 now! There is a problem tho! You can not connect to any GPRS settings part from the "protected settings" pre-installed on the phone. (The phone was on vodafone uk)
We have tryed everything we get the same message "Web unable to connect, check settings" and we know the settings are fine as they worked on his 6600.
The only way we can see away around this is to get nokia to flash the phone with a sim free software.
Iv got a 6630 to but i did'nt trust getting my phone unlocked by the same way. I requested my code from vodafone over 2 weeks ago and is still waiting for the code.
Im hoping the only reason he cannot connect to GPRS is because of the way he unlocked it but i dont think so, its the phone.
Anyone else had this problem?
many thanks guys for reading

i've been waiting for the code for 3 weeks now, still no code from vodafone and according to another forum on this topic, some other people too have been waiting long too
for other nokia phones, vodafone can give u the unlock code at the same time. For this one, because its new, they have to request it from nokia, and i suppose because of xmas, things are as efficient as they should be
cool.
when u get it post it here with imei and locked network just to help other users and know how it was calculated

Vodafone just told me that hey havent yet recieved the codes from Nokia which is pretty much what everyone is saying.
Ive read on other forums that the codes Vodafone were originally giving out dont work so it can be assumed that the Box Serial generated with the IMEI listed in this thread is incorrect.
Been waiting 72 hours now hopefully once xmas is over Nokia or vodafone will pull thier finder out of thier arse :(

£20 is a standard unlocking fee via vodafone *well thats what they told me* You must all know that you will not be able to use MMS, GPRS or G3 on any other network part from vodafone even when it has been unlocked!
there is no known way to delete the protected settings which the phone is forced to use when booting up!
if anyone knows any different please let me know!

just a quick question,
i have read that once you enter 5 wrong unlock codes, your phone locks itself and you cannot enter any more codes to unlock it remotely
i myself have entered 2 codes on one occasion and 2 codes on a different occasion, all 4 not accepted by the phone, hense my phone is still sim locked
does that mean that i have 1 more try to unlock it, or do you get 5 more chances whenever you switch it off/on? i dont suppose there is a way to "reset" the counter is there?

drchris mate, you will be lucky if you can even enter one more try as it takes one try locking the phone to the network! there is no known way to reset that counter.
I tried that code to remove the settings and it did not do anything but thanks for the info.
iv been doing a lot of reading and it looks like the only way you can fully unlock the phone is by flashing the phone with a new o/s.
I have no idea how to do this but i do know one thing, its a bloody mission trying to get the 6630 unlocked. Not even vodafone who sells the phone has the codes .
getting the phone unlocked to any network will be able to be done but i dont think we are going to find a way to remove the protected gprs settings.

In Norway you get the unlock code for free if you bought the phone on contract. But no one have gotten the code for the 6630 yet (allthough they were promised to get it in a "few days") - indicating that there are troubles even for the operators, getting the 6630 codes.

You shouldent need to :/ you can still set up the bookmarks and access points have to tried setting the MMS to use custom settings or added a bookmark configuring a different access point.
Edit : Just added the Orange Access Points to my phone (remebering two of them need proxy server addresses under advanced settings) set up a bookmark to my site and overrode the bookmark to use Orange GPRS. It failed while using Vodafone so that means its attempting to use the different settings.

Yup its £20 they cant give you the codes though as they dont have them yet. As for blocking £G networks once unlocked if you have a USIM in your phone ti will access your networks 3G signal and lock onto it. Settings for MMS, GPRS and Packet Data very from phone to phone its possible that a setting is incorrect as I just keyed in the orange settings and tried on Vodafone overriding the settings and it failed to connect. This means *is* trying to use the Orange settings. The fact that it failed and dident auto default to vodafone settings prooves this a bit.

Can you just not add different mms and GPRS profiles to the phone , on mine i have the 6 default Vodafone ones , 3 x Prepay & 3 x Postpay
but i can add my own to it and set the mms settings to use them instead of vodafones settings?

If you wanto i can send you the GPRS and MMS messaging settings to your friend.
I work in a Nokia Laboratory, and i just need the Phone Model, Country and Network to be configured.

Where is the confirmation? :-?
To be quite honest, it's a little monotonous when people post things like this and never back it up! It appears that most people in these forums simply 'invent' these so-called 'facts' because they're bored and have nothing better to do.
I think it would be better for all concerned if 'confirmation' was not made until the real 'facts' are known and can be backed up :-D

Hi,
Sorry i didn't write any usefull info - but i will wait to be 100% sure it is actually working.
My statement is based on the fact that a phone was unlocked using codes from operator. The code used a new boxserial, and i was able to reproduce the codes using ASIC2 and the new boxserial. I won't post imei/operator here - will try on some more first. The boxserial does only seem to work with one operator though -but my point was that it was using old ASIC, which is good :)
As mentioned it's not 100% sure yet - so i won't post anything untill i know.
Sorry... :(
Btw, it does seem like 6630 is not having the "5 wrong codes-limit" any more. I know a guy who have entered wrong code more than 5 times, and it's still the same code error message - not "not allowed" or something similar.
mac_es
30-12-2004, 09:57 AM
Are you sure about that?
It was posted an IMEI, a serial and a code which was claimed to be original from a provider (Vodafone UK), and this code unlocked the phone. I wasn't able to reproduce the code using any known ASIC.
The serial IF the algo haven't changed should be any which is not blacklisted, and that serial will work in any phone.

Which was my point exactly - why bother CONFIRMING something when you don't have all the facts?
However, I can give you a few facts - I have attempted unlocking codes on over 30 Nokia 6630 phones using various KNOWN methods including different Asics and Box Serials (including 32969). I have tried Asic 2 and 5 with Box Serial 32969 on Voda UK, Voda Ireland, Telia Sweden and more recently Orange UK etc etc etc. The Nokia 6630 has been on the market for over a month now and i'm pretty sure that - if KNOWN methods could unlock this phone - someone would have figured it out by now!
Here is my plea to all those thinking of posting on the subject of unlocking the Nokia 6630 - PLEASE THINK TWICE AND MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE 100% POSITIVE WHAT YOU ARE POSTING IS TRUE!

30-12-2004, 07:37 PM
Trust me there is only 5 tries and you will NOT be able to enter anymore remote unlock codes.
if you enter more then 5 codes you will not get any message at all once you enter any more codes.
I went to talk to a bloke in the nokia center in a town near me today and he said that he cant even unlock the phone it has to be done via vodafone because it has a new unlocking system.
I called vodafone asking where my code is as iv been waiting nearly 3 weeks and they said there is a big back order and i could be waiting upto 2 months for the code :???:
I think ill have to get it done by cable like my friend!

Network Code : 271-01 ( Vodafone Ireland )
Unlock Code: #pw+436167250527455+1#
Box Code: 32969
PS The person would advised is DCT-5 was a Nokia engineer until he left earlier this year and worked on R&D side ;)
Hi... I know you have been all trying to duplicate the above unlock code with different Asics and box codes. I don't know if anybody has been trying these using the network code above, but Vodafone Ireland is actually 272-01 and not 271-01.
Might be some help, but I doubt it, as the calculators will put the proper code in anyway.
In the meantime, I have got a 6630 today which is locked to Vodafone Ireland and I want to use it on O2. I have to wait approx a week for Vodafone to get a code from Nokia. I will post here once I get anything.
By the way, well done with the calculator again Crux. It is working great on all the new 2650's and 3220's etc

yes there is a way to unlock the 6630 via cable as my friend has this done.
Iv been waiting nearly a month for my code from vodafone. I think i ordered my code on the 7th Dec and iv heard nothing from them. Iv called them a few times and they have said the same old shit " we will be in contact "!
im sure in a month or 2 the 6630 will be easy to unlock, but untill then DAMMM vodafone for not selling their phones sim free anymore!!!!!

well i am curious as to what the market bloke is using to unlock the phone as none of the following devices can unlock this phone:
PBB, JAF, SARAS Boxes, profigy etc..
It cant be done by any 3rd party service equipment at all at present.
I dont think anyone can unlock this phone via code or cable at present.

just a quick question,
i have read that once you enter 5 wrong unlock codes, your phone locks itself and you cannot enter any more codes to unlock it remotely
i myself have entered 2 codes on one occasion and 2 codes on a different occasion, all 4 not accepted by the phone, hense my phone is still sim locked
does that mean that i have 1 more try to unlock it, or do you get 5 more chances whenever you switch it off/on? i dont suppose there is a way to "reset" the counter is there?
I have tried 6 times, all is "code error". It seems no 5 wrong unlock codes limit.
That's all.

If I recall rightly the 5 code limit doesent actually take effect until you enter the correct code then you get a message saying "Not Allowed"

Ok, it's time to put an end to all of this '6630' crap!
Some time ago, englishpunk posted stating that a friend of his was provided with a code by Vodafone (Ireland) for his Nokia 6630 with IMEI number 354349001640716 - the code which was allegedly provided was #pw+436167250527455+1#. People ran around attempting to re-create this code using known methods without success.
The reason no-one had success is because this code was not generated by Vodafone (Ireland), nor was it generated for the IMEI 354349001640716. If you get your calcs at the ready and use the following:
IMEI: 354349001640609
Asic 7
Network: 27201000
Box Serial: 32969
You will notice that the first code generated is identical to the code mentioned above. Now before anyone get's excited thinking that this is the solution, IT ISN'T! I have personally attempted to unlock 3 Nokia 6630 phones with this method and it doesn't work.
Now to my next point - the 5 tries rule! I have read on a number of forums that people are saying the 5 tries rule has been removed on the Nokia 6630 - again this is crap! The Nokia 6630 will display 'Not Allowed' after 5 tries like any other Symbian handset, the reason I know this is because I have had 2 Nokia 6630 phones display this message already!
Face facts, this phone is either a new DCT type or a new Asic type and I hope that this post will finally lay to rest any thoughts that this phone can be unlocked using known methods
Cosmictej
06-01-2005, 04:12 PM
Pbb can flash this, and apparently when Zuelua comes back from holiday he will add an unlocking function.
Regarding about calcs, you will either require an UNBARRED box serial or a new algo.

You should see a number of flashers supporting this handset around the end of the month, with this will also come cable unlocking.
However code unlocking may come with this or it may not, but it should be no more than 2 - 3 weeks after.

cant you see??
thoose sites use programs like indear's and crux's and cybergsm's
if theyr free programs cant unlock 6630 by code, so neither thoose sites can
:)
the problem could be because crux had inputed 6630 in is calc
and without test it, those sites admin's put it in they'r lists
.. you should wait until somebody crack the 6630 algorithm
probably thoose sites will have it later
.. i think you had'nt been riped off
i think they are also waiting for a solution to send you the codes...
;)
be ware...
thoose sites only exist because people like you use them, and pay them
..
dont use it..
wait for free options
and those sites will have tendency to desapeer
...
hope some body crack 6630 algo soon.. im needing it for my java free calc:)

First i'm sorry i posted some wrong information earlier. The "rumour" was based on what seems to be a bug in the phone. The guy inserted his card, and got the message that it was not accepted. He then entered the ASIC2 code (with special boxserial), and the phone instantly rebooted without showing any message. When it had rebooted it accepted the card for some reason... (and still accepts it)
Then:
I got some real 6630 codes today. One +1 code and one +4 code, for same IMEI. The weird thing is that the +1 code had boxserial 22417, and the +4 code had boxserial 70613 - which is completely unlike previous DCT-4 unlock codes.
So it might not be as simple as a new ASIC... Maybe a completely new algorithm? :-o

Did the codes you received for your 6630 successfully unlock the handset? Also, were you able to recreate the codes using a calc and if so, using what settings etc?
The thing is, if a new algo is being used to generate codes for the 6630, would I be correct in saying that the current method used to find out the box serial from generated codes would be obsolete for this phone and any other phone using the new algo?

That sucks, I bought 2 6630 from vodaphone japan, one as a gift. They don't unlock phones here, they don't need to... no one cares about it. Anyway, I got 2 nokias because generally they are easy to unlock, I didn't really look up the status of the 6630, what can you do... I would have got the 6630, and the sharp 902, which btw, has the best screen i've ever seen on a mobile phone. It uses the AQUOS lcd.
There are a bunch of people that claim they are capable of unlocking the 6630. But, apparantly, they all use the known calculators. There was a guy on ebay claiming that he CAN unlock the phone with a cable, but no way am I sending two brand new phones to some guy, god knows where to physically unlock them.
I guess we all just have to wait it out for a while.

Hi,
It was a friend's phone, and he did unlock it using the code the operator sent him (he is a distributor of phones, so unlocking is not new to him). His description (translated):
I inserted the SIM, and got error "invalid SIM". I entered the +1 code without SIM and the phone said "Phone restriction off" and rebooted. I then entered the +4 code, and the phone rebooted again. Now i turned the phone on with SIM, and it booted succesfully..
This guy's codes is not possible to reproduce using the known ASIC's. I'll ask him if it's OK to post IMEI and codes here.
The rebooting is interessting, because that is what the other guy told me also. He said that the phone just rebooted when putting the last #, and then it worked. Although he was just using normal ASIC2 codes, with a new boxserial.

been to three places now to ask about unlocking
a week ago went to my NSC the man at the counter had not heard of the phone!!
bristol tuesday claimed they had the correct cable and are currently upgrading their software but the half they have upgraded doesnt include 6630, the say the upgrade will be done by mid next week and 6630 will be then unlockable by them
just been to local market an told me his unlocking "clip" doesnt support the 6630

The problem is not mostly the cable, but the software.
I just contacted a dutch unlock service and he said he's got a "special" nokia-box? :-?

Compare the IMEI number of the phone you've got ( *#06# if you don't already know) to the IMEI number printed on the side of the box the phone came in.
I highly doubt they'd have swapped the handset.

IMEI: 354349000827066

Code4: #pw+920291382969590+4#
IMEI: 354349000830201
Operator: 24201
Code1 : #pw+888220901223798+1#
Code4 : #pw+449641040537977+4#
The boxserial seems to be "random" on 6630, as the other pair of codes i got had completely different boxserials.
To those of you who considering buying codes from websites selling unlock codes to 6630: They won't work. If the website had new and working codes for 6630, they would make it real clear, by writing "world's first in 6630 unlocking" or "Now even support for 6630" etc. If 6630 is just listed as one of all others theres no reason it would work.

It's also a possibility that boxserial is history now. Every phone just have one variation of the code. But that codes is made of a completely new algorithm.
It can also be simple - maybe they just changed algo for reading boxserial of a code? Which is causing us to read the boxserial wrong.
Who knows? Anyway, it is bad news... :(

i still think it might be an dct5
the other asic is also possible
but.. maybe a dct5
the box serial can also be generated by imei too... if i was a programmer of nokia.. and if i want to stop the ilegitm unlocking by code it was simple
. .. . simple protocole..
it wouldnt be needed codes
;)
just something like puting the phone contacting with an online database to see if he had permission, that would be given by network operators ;) ..
;)
but they dont want that ;)
because that help them sailling phones,..
so i think that the code should'nt be to hard to crack ;)
... just like this
we have box serials currently used, in every forums
.. if they want they could black listem them all
but still they dont.. ;)
this is wath i think
..
ps ;: sory for my bad english;)

kingsknight - can u let us know when u get ur unlock code please? when did u request ur code? I requested mine on the 9th Dec last year...still no sign of it :-(
I phoned up Vodafone CS and had a right go at them! spoke to the accounts dept too and have been told that I will receive a £20 credit once I receive my unlock code (whenever that may be!!). Apparently it's an automatic charge i.e. they charge £20 once u get the code. If you've been waiting a while I would advise u to call them up and say you're not satisfied with their service and demand they give you credit back. They said they would credit me for the delay and inconvenience...tho I have been hasseling them for the code every few days for the past month or so!

any one who is interested t-mobile provide codes for £15
here is the e-mail i received
Dear Lee
Thank you for your email about using your phone on another network.
Your phone can be unlocked at a cost of £15.00. T-Mobile cannot guarantee that all phone features will be compatible with other networks. In some cases a live SIM card is needed to complete the unlocking procedure, however, if you have you an Ericsson phone, a live SIM card is not needed.
As you pay your bills monthly the charge can be applied to your account. You will also need to:
- Have held your T-Mobile account for at least one month.
- Have not requested 3 subsidy pins in the last 12 months.
- Know that if you are still in contract and decide to leave our network cancellation charges will apply.
- Have cleared any outstanding balance before the subsidy pin is released.
- Be aware that you are responsible for checking the compatibility of your phone with the network you intend to use it on.
If you would like to apply for the subsidy pin, please provide the following:
- IMEI number, this is a 15 digit number, which is located underneath your battery. Alternatively, you can enter *#06# to display the number on your phone.
(If you have a Blackberry device, please use the track wheel to scroll to "Hide Call" and press Return. Using the Options menu from the front screen select Status Open to display the IMEI.)
- The make and model of your phone.
- Your mobile number, name and account password.
- Payment of £15.00.
- An alternative contact number.
Please allow up to 28 working days to receive the subsidy pin code.
With regards the use of more than 1 SIM card in your phone at once, I am unable to advise upon this as this is subject to the manufacturer's restrictions. Please refer to Nokia for more information regarding this matter. You can find out more at http://www.nokia.com
I trust that the above information is of use to you and have added a note to your account with details of your email.
If you require further help, please visit us at http://www.t-mobile.co.uk

any one who is interested t-mobile provide codes for £15
here is the e-mail i received

I cant believe this still aint sorted, has it ever took this long for a previous model, or are Nokia just getting devious? I am in bad need of a T-Mobile unlock code, as i am on the orange network and am using the 6600 and the new 6630 lies in a box... :x
I am sure it will be posted here when a genius solves/cracks the code

I got some news.
Bought yesterday my 6630 :-D
But it's locked :x
Surely there must be somebody outthere who has the original firmware for 6630? The one without the fakkin vodafone limitations...
Can't nobody make a backup of his original firmware and put it online so we can flash that shit back on 6630, have a dope menu, bypass the lock and everybody can move on?
Or isn't this possible with smartphones

Crux is part of this forum, if he was capable of unlocking it he would have said so. Up until now nothing can unlock the 6630.

I've got several versions (incuding the latest v3.45.111) of the original unbranded 6630 firmware. Have you got a Nokia PKD-1 service dongle, or a £400 Phoenix Black Box needed to flash this phone? ;-)
And flashing unbranded firmware will not unlock your phone, it will just get rid of the vodafone branding and limitations. As of now there is no unlock solution for the 6630.

With all due respect, I think you might be a more "tolerant". I understand them as myself have been looking 20 times per day at the topic desperatly hoping for a solution to unlock my 6630.
I'm not only talking about a solution, but just news, improvements, threads you guys are following,etc... You should understand that a lot of the guys posting on that thread (me at least) have no technical knowledge and rely on guys like you. It sometimes may be boring, but I think you should be pride of that.
As far as I'm concerned, and as this topic seemed to be dead, I gave my 6630 away yesterday night. Even though I already regret it...
With regards

tolerant....246 replies on a subject that has no solution yet....
2 posts in the thread on this page asking people not to post "any news yet "
one of which was followed almost straight away by someone posting "any news yet"
All I have asked is that people do not post in this thread unless the answer is
" you can unlock the 6630 by entering ????? " or by using xxxxx....
then if there is any news you can see it straight away...not scroll through pages of crap...not everyone is on broadband and some of our members have to pay a fortune for their internet dial up access...
I'm sorry if you have taken offence at that stance

Thanks for answering my post.
Tolerant might not be the appropriate word. That's why I put it between "" (quotes ? sorry for my English).
My point was just to say that a few innapropriate posts (and I agree this time was a bit too much) maybe better than nothing at all as it shows you're not alone =)
Anyway, let's bring the topic back on tracks =)
And thanks for writing "I'm sorry" to a 6-times-poster. Shows you have no problems with tolerance at all :-)
