Hi,

Purchased a 3200 from ebay USA which was locked to AT&T.

I did the unlock thing and all was good...but can't get network reception (in Australia) with aapt (they use the vodafone network).

Any & all help greatly appreciated.

usa don't use 900/1800 hz like most other networks...check if your network freqs are supported by this phone

I'm just beginning to think that. Found a site that appears to sell 2 types of 3200..i that does 850/1800/1900 & another that does 900/1800/1900 (as sold here).

I understood that nokia changed model no's to differentiate supported freq.
On the AT&T site they advertise the 850/1800/1900. HMmmm.

Wht's the difference between EGSM & GSM?

from the Nokia web site

Tri-band phone (GSM 900/1800/1900)

plus

Network Carrier Coverage
http://www.accesscomms.com.au/mobnet.htm

seems it should work

yeah..have tried optus & my aapt which is vodafone.

does appear to be 2 flavours of 3200.

I has a look on the AT&T site: they have then as 800/1800/1900 (http://www.ram-wireless.com/Nokia-3200--Camera-Phone--from-AT-T-Wireless.html) not the 900/1800/1900 advertised by Nokia (http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,8764,42727,00.html).

Don't suppose there's a way of flicking the 900 on...?

no...it's built into the circuit board....not software...
