PC Suite 6600 Backup Problem

Well here's the situation. First when I got the phone. I tried to use my sim, it reads the sim card and asks for pin request. After loading I get sim card registration failed. Then i tried to do a backup using PC suite for this phone but I always get "Backup Problem ---- An unexpected error has occured while bakingup data ------ Please run backup task again." This is what i always get. I tried my brother's phone which is also a 6600 and the PC suite worked. So i went to a service center and had my phone upgrade from 4.XX - 5.xx Now my brother and I have the same fiirmware version. 1 thigh good happened my sim finally worked but another still left. PC suite still gives me the same error. Does anyone know what i must do?

btw i am using an IR device.
