Hi all.
I wonder if anyone could help me. I would very much liekto follow all the forum rules and I have read all the stickies. I woud like to use the Nokia Dct4 online Calculator to unlock my 7260. However it does not appear in the list.
I noticed than in this thread http://nokiafree.org/forums/t50542/h/s.html a unlock was found, so I was wondering how I might go about doing this.
Thanks you for your help, in advance.
Cheers
Dan

that thread is from december 2003, the 7260 did not exist at that time.
i belive the one who posted that message wrote 7260 instead of 7250.
anyway, it is a new series 40 nokia, so i would say it will be ASIC 7.
selecy "ASIC 7" as model, and calc a code.
because i'm not completely sure about my solution - try only the first code - and only once.
if that doesn't work - wait for someone else to reply, i was kinda out of unlocking lately..

but make your shot and reply please..
dont forget.. use only 1st code.. if work then use 7th code..
if 1st code gives you code error message all the codes from that set of codes will give code error message:)

thx for the quick reply but I am really confused so here goes.
I used the calc and enter in
IMEI **********
Gen V2
Nokia Model Asic 2
UK 02
and it returned the following info.
IMEI: ************
NETWORK: 23410
PHONE TYPE: 7
BOX: 33820
CODES:
oops
------------
What I dont understand is what you mean by the 1st and then 7th code.
What the box serial means ? ( I have the box here with the info if that can help)
And (this is the embarrsing one) how I type in the letters pw when inputing the code. (noob or what !) It only seems to let me enter #* and numbers.
Thx again

How many times have you entered an incorrect code? If its more than 5 you have barred the phone from being unlocked by code and will need a cable method

I have tried 3 times now. So I should be ok for a couple more. However i am being alot more careful now.
On the box its says that the phone was made in Germany. However I bought it in the UK on the O2 network.
I read somewhere that the origin of the phone was important could this be the problem ?
Could really use a bit of expertise here.
Thx

Mate where it was made makes no difference, umm let me do a bit of research on the phone and see what use, can you tell me what you have tried.

Series 40 Platform 2 phones are not ASIC 7 generally, don't waste your code tries. The only ASIC7 we know are Series 40 P1, but also 3G (7600 & 6650). All the other 40 P1 are ASIC 2.
The Series 40 P2 we know are 6230 - ASIC 6, and the rest ASIC2 (3220, 5140 etc). It is most likely to be ASIC 2, if it in fact uses the current algorithm... :-D

It didnt work. :???:
I only have one more go left now. I can always go the the local market and get it done for £10, but I would much rather do it myself and save the tenner.
I cant believe this phone is being so tricky, its not even the best phone in the world.
Any ideas ??

A Mod on another board has reported that 7260 is ASIC 2, whilst 7270 and 7280 are ASIC 6, but I have not had my hands on one to check this. The only 7260 I had was on O2 and was already unlocked.
Dan, have you tried another SIM card in the phone to check it is locked? Try one an report the error message given by the phone..

Hey lads just wondering where ye were generating those codes from? i hav my 7260 here that i need to unlock quite urgently...

you have to generate the codes yourself
download the forum's calc and use settings from this page
any other doubts about the codes just read the FAQ's and stickies and you'll do fine :)

Exelent thread! it has realy helped me...
but i dont know what am i dong wrong :???:
i have the lates crux and as the resent posts say, the 7260 is an ASIC 2, so i calculated the codes with my imei and everything.... i took out the simcard, powered on the cellphone and entered the codes, BUT (theres always a but  ) after i enter completely the code, nothing happens, it doesnt even say erroneous code... it doesnt say anything!
does anyone know whats happening?
Thanks for your time! cheers!

This happens on some specific models. I didn't know that the 7260 was also prone to this, but anyways. Try with a not accepted SIM in the phone. When you turn it on, it should display an undo button. Press it and type in the code, it should work.
Best regards

Thanks for the info! it realy does work the way you say it did, i inserted an invalid simcard and imediatly it appeared an undo button... so i pressed the button and it asked for the codes BUT  , ive tried 3 diferent codes and they aint workin! :x and im getting very close to that magical number 5 :P !
ive tried the first code, also the first code but with a number 7 at the end instead of a number 1, and ive tried the last (7th) code...
is there something i might be doing wrong?
thanks
