6630 -> Unlock 3g (dual) To Gsm Mode -> Tutorial

Hiya guys and girls.
This tutorial is for anyone who has a 6630 but is tired of the poor 3g signal from vodafone or any other operator. Some of the earlier firmwares (2.39.151) of 6630 do not have the menu to switch the 3g/gsm (dual) mode to GSM.

guess i was lucky then my handset came with v 3.45.111 which quite happily switches between GSM and 3G settings :D

Yeah you are one of the lucky ones I guess. I took mine to swap for a new firmware prior to figuring out the non firmware method. But carphone warehouse had none of the new firmware ones on Voda. When did you get yours and what network? I got mine on 27th dec.

Mine's got v3.45.111 as well, got it a week ago on T-Mobile.

As far as I know, all T-Mobile UK handsets are v3.45.111, and Vodafone have not released any later Vodafone-branded firmware than v2.39.xxx, so you're out of luck as far as official updates go.

I've got the generic Nokia 3.45.111 flash files and Phoenix software, and will have access to a Phoenix Black Box soon so will let you know how flashing goes.


As for the Field Test program, the file in question is apparently named OperatorFtdwk39v7.sis and there's a link to it in the forum on www.nokiaworld.it

I'm still waiting for the forum activation email though.

it enables Net Monitor on Nokia 6630.

to block the phone on GSM go to 81.1 field (joypad to sx when opened the program)

then options -> execute -> 1 -> ok

dude you have an error in your tutorial. towards the bottom at 0914 menu http://www.symbian-freak.com/images/guides/netmon/811.gif, you have a screenshot of "force protocol" with the following text:

"If you send your message trough GPRS u can count her all of them, with all error details and sending attempts"

That is incorect. I am sure its just a wrong screenshot in the wrong place.

Thx for info :) but Im already fix that, it is noticable error, difrent beetwen header and image and comment is obviously, shit happend :-P

BTW:

Read again, on the top u have navigation tips, and at the bottom u can find detailed guide abot forceing protocol with screenshots of every step!??

Download application, instalit vherever u wont, run it and follow guide.

BTW:
I will not more provide support for this guide on this forum, u can reach mi trough shootbox, Ask guru form, or forum on mentioned site..

Hi!

I have problems installing the file on my 6630 (Vodafone branded 2.39.15). It always stops, saying Security settings prevent installation. Downloaded the above appended File.
Has anybody any ideas how to get the programm to work? My stby time is only about 24 hrs and I hope to get more by switching over to gsm only mode.

Nice Site. I didn't know you were the owner. Hope to see much stuff coming up. Tried the FTD works great. Does not work for 3G but no worries as of now! Just a quick question. Is the FTD supplied by Nokia. I mean can anyone use it for any purpose or is it owned by someone else.

FTD (Netmonitor) is a commercial application, not sure regarding the source of the application, but to purchase it you need to privide documents to varify that you are a commercial phone retailer, dealer etc..

Use of FTD also voids your warranty!! Although Carphonewarehouse or nokia would find it hard to prove that you ever used FTD if you do a format of your phone!! Just blame the firmware.. lol
