SmartMovie 2.64 System Error

Hi Guys!
I just downloaded SmartMovie 2.64 with keygen and it's great!
I played the tsunami video on it and it looks good!
Now i downloaded The Gladiator movie in .avi format.
Well, the filename is like this (gladiator 2000.mobile.smartmovie.dvdrip-arena.avi)
i have the xvid codec already installed.
When i try to play the movie...it says "opening gladiator.avi"
then it goes haywire saying "SmartMovie: System Error"
I downloaded the ngage1.avi clip at the usual places and it says "ERROR! :Invalid avi file : ngage1.avi
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling SmartMovie 2.64 but it staill gives me the same problems.
Oh, and By the way...is there a special codec that i need for the movie to run?
What could be the Problem?

Did u try any other ver. Like some what lower version and does that video plays nicely on ur windows player.. ??

What is the size of the avi files? Maybe they are in wrong format (screen size). Play them on the computer first (should work fine with Windows Media Player when you have the DivX codec installed). If the files play fine, just re-convert them with the SmartMovie converter, using the DivX codec. Set it top the correct screen size (208x176), there is another thread somewhere dealing with those settings.

When you install the sis on the phone, it includes a Xvid codec. However in the download zip there is another Xvid codec as a separate sis file. I would advise you to install that one to the phone memory (it's some 73 kilobytes). With this setup i have no problems whatsoever on my phone with Smartmovie, either version but of 2.64 i have only a trial and no keygen. But it too works fine.

Since yours plays one of the files fine, your problem most likely is with the avi files.

Guys, i have a question...
About Divx movies...do i need to convert them to .avi format?
'coz i saw one clip and to be honest...they look great!
any thoughts on this guys???

Hi there :)

The converting process is used to get the image size correct for use on the phone. In the same go, any file you throw at the converter will be converted to an AVI file.

The screen size is 176x208 pixels. There is another thread somewhere here that deals with the SmartMovie settings.

Hey Thahn! Nice country you have, I've been to MBK to purchase a 2600 for my aunt back last December before the Tsunami struck. I've also been to Pantip (great mall! by the way!) But to tell you the truth...phones there are a lot more expensive than what we got here in the Philippines...hope you could visit my country to find out what i'm talkin' about...Anyway, i could convert videos using divx and then convert them back again using smartmovie converter?

Ya ya the phils... i often wish i had a chance to go there. I have several filipino colleagues at work, and they are almost nicer than the thais :) They keep telling me how nice that is over there..... but sadly, i have neither freetime nor money to travel.

However about SmartMovie, yes, what you want to do works just great. Yesterday i bought a VCD which i was waiting for since long time to become available. Finally got it, and it's VCD 2.0. My Sony home component can't play it!!!

So i tried to convert it. And i found that none of the 625 softwares that i have can convert from mpg2 to mpg1! Damn it. So i joined the two files (one from each disk) with TMPGENC or what that thing is called, and converted that large file to AVI, using the DiVX codec. That operation took little over an hour. The resulting AVI file was just over 100 MB in size, and i had no problem re-converting that to ordinary VCD format (mpg1) and burn two new VCD disks which play in the Sony.

However since i REALLY want that movie to be with me, i then let the AVI file thru the SmartMovie converter too. That took some 35 minutes and resulted in a 35 MB file, which i uploaded to my MMC and it plays just great in the 3650 :)

The point is: i REALLY need a VGA card that has a TV-out or i keep wasting blank CD's and loads of hours converting DVD's and VCD2.0's (why was that format actually invented???) to standard VCD's just to watch the thing on a somewhat bigger screen. Or on a somewhat smaller screen, some 176x208 pixels, but for THAT at least i don't need blank CD's, just larger MMC's every then and when (saving $$ for a one-gig version right now, gonna have it by next week). Hmm can i connect a CD drive to the 3650..?

Or a harddisk..?????
