Ive tried my 6680 with multiple codes and of course they havent worked, when I tried another set of 7 codes the first code said "Not Allowed" but the next code said "Code Error".

If people want their phone desperately unlocked, do you not think they could try it illegally?

Well, no one has to try it since a code works for a single phone. I think you have not read the full thread. Read the first post and you will understand.

Yeah I think it's geniune, if you read through the FAQ of unlocking, they mention the dissasembly of the phone. Thus, they are most likely are changing the RPA3G.

They also say the phone will be taken to Belgrad. Maybe the chip won't be replaced but instead some sort of direct cable connection to the board (JTAG???) or some test point to be used .

Can you help me unlock my 6630? I'm a complete tool and didn't read the last 8 pages

Kidding, of course

So here's my story...

Bought a 6630 on ebay, locked to T-Mobile UK. I have service with T-Mobile US. I figured there was an outside chance that T-Mobile is universal. Naturally, that's not the case. "SIM card not valid." So I called TMo US and explain. (FYI, T-Mobile US issues one unlock code every 90 days to current customers at no charge) The girl transfers me to tech support. Tech support says they can't do it and I need to call TMo UK. The number they give me to TMo UK doesn't work, so I call back. I explain the situation to a different person, and she says "No problem, I can get you the code." She takes the model and IMEI, and says I'll have a code within 24 hours. I'm hoping she's right.

That brings me to now... 6 hours after that phone call. The anticipation is killing me. :-D If all goes well, I'll have a working code on my phone as a text message sometime tomorrow afternoon at the latest. Wish me luck. If it does work out, I'll post the code here.

Guisseppe
12-01-2006, 08:47 PM
Denied...

TMo US says they can't do it since it's technically not their phone. TMo UK says they can't do it since I don't have an account with them. Back to square one.

second I would like to ask you this: (I have a nokia 6680 that I received as a "gift" and it has a 3 on it and it's from italy and I need to unblock/decode it so I can use it on orange :)) how do I know that I still can type in the real code? I read that you only get 2 3 or 5 tries to enter the correct code. how do I know how many tries do I have left? I think it's very important to know, cause I want to know if I can still unblock it without trying a code and seeing if I don't get the error message that I've blocked it "forever" :D. Please reply!

the safest method is just to contact the original service provider and purchase a code from them, then enter it and enjoy your unlocked phone... otherwise you must send your phone to Dejan and for 90Eur he will unlock it with his magic... but as i say, service provider is safest way mate...

Well let me add my 2 pennies worth!

I bought this fone 6680 from a second hand shop and the guy said it was on o2. so i got it home tried my sim and i got "sim card rejected" . I tried a 3 sim card and it worked. My question is..did the o2 card not work simply cos its not a 3g O2 card? daft question i guess. Because ive seen things about the net saying 3g cards work on 3g handsets. I dont want to fork out £115 for 3 to push one button and give me some digits when o2 cards wont work in the bastards anyway!!

So is there a way of finding out what network this phone works on. for example it might be unlocked but just needs a 3g sim? im not sure about this 3g lark. I bought it becuase it liked the features, i didnt know it was 3g!!
Anyone got any suggestions?

"SIM card rejected" on any Nokia handset means the SIM is PUK blocked, PIN has been entered wrong 3 times, and PUK entered wrong 10 times - I suppose if it is a truly unlocked 6680 (as in thru service provider or whatever) thats what could have caused the problem, so try a few different SIMs to see what happens.

Mr. Cosmictej, I am not sure if new boxes able to work with BB5 phones can read the number of attempts used. In DCT4 phones this is possible, but I am not sure if it's possible in BB5 yet. I know flashing is already possible, but since now RPA3G is involved, maybe this feature is not available for BB5.

In case it is, Mr. smg_man, you will need to take the phone to a small repair shop that will charge you a small fee to give you this info.

Apparantly these guys claim to be able to unlock the 6630 on certain networks.

Steep price to pay though. Any one used their services yet?

Also guys, I get a "Code Error!" when I try to check the provider lock status using #pw+1234567890+1#. What does this error signify? Do I run the risk of killing the phone (with no. of tries, etc.) by trying this? or have I managed to kill it already? :???: :???: :???: :???: :???: :???: :???:

The probabilly can, its not unheard for them to be able to access the operators database, because if you look they only offer the unlocking of Vodafone UK, Orange France, SFR and Bouygues phones.

About the price, thats about the same price Vodafone Uk would charge you if you went through them direct.

Thanks guys,

A bit confused about checking the operator lock status. As subway999 mentions, it can lock out the phone if tried more than 3 times. How do we check the operator lock status on the 6630?

Does formatting the phone reset this counter and let me have 3 tries each time I perform a format?

Nino

EdgeCrusher
06-02-2006, 04:33 AM
Unfortunately not. Formatting the phone won't change anything. Eventually, flashing the phone on DCT4 phones, but on BB5, as the internal structure is different, flashing the phone does not reset the counter. In fact, in DCT4 phones flashing the phone with a generic file would unlock the phone of course, but not on BB5 phones.

The bad news is that if you ran out of attempts and used the three tries without success, the phone is permanently locked, at least until a hardware solution that can bypass this obstacle is released officially, which for the moment does not seem to be probable.

Best regards
Edge

elnino123
06-02-2006, 05:10 PM
What should the error message say to indicate that the phone is permanently locked? Is this a generic error message or does it depend on the SP or firmwire version etc.?

Appreciate the help,
Nino

EdgeCrusher
06-02-2006, 05:48 PM
The phone will give always "code error" even after passing the three tries limit, as long as you enter an invalid code. But when you enter a correct code, the phone will display "not allowed".

where to start...

no code requests allowed, no "send me" to mail addresses, and no posting IMEI's allowed all according to the rules!!

oh and also, you CANT unlock BB5 phones only the Network you are on can do that so contact 3UK and ask for a code, which they will charge you for!!!

you should read the Sticky in the BB5 section before posting...

This is totally off topic for this thread, but if the Nfeee project is closed, why is it still available for download? Soon enough the serials used will be barred, and all that will happen is increasing number of users will have their phone hardlocked, and have to pay more to have their phone's unlocked with a clip.

This doesn't seem to benefit any of the users. Either support it and update it, or withdraw it before it causes more damage than good.

Just my humble opinion.

Do you know if in that place there is a description of what Dejan does to unlock BB5 phones? Because that looks interesting... sounds similar to the problem with the imei patcher (if you change fw, then the new imei is erased and back to the original).

The good thing is that in the Nfree calc you can enter custom serials without problems, so as long as the algos are valid, you can enter custom serials and calculate accurate codes, which makes the nfree calc an useful tool yet.

As a Mac User the downloadable version is not much use as it meant for PCs

The online version is useful, but could be made brilliant if you could enter cusomised GENs and also the cellphones providerMCC+MNC as a numeric value, as every network is not listed Maybe it could be called be described as "advanced options"

Fully agree with the limitations of the online calc. It should be improved...

As for the problem with Mac (and Linux) users... I have not been able to find a full solution. For Linux users, there's a calc that works from the CLI. It is not the most comfortable of interfaces... but well, it generates codes correctly. For Mac users, the only thing that comes to my mind is a Java calc. But I have to admit that someone has to port the code to Mac OS X, as the Java language requires the JRSE, which is not the smallest of dloads.

Hello Mr. josetolo_jr. I think this is not possible. It is possible in DCT4 technology, but in BB5 I think it is not. I am not fully aware of the capabilities of the new trend of boxes that are able to work with BB5 technology, but my guess is that resetting the counter is not possible. I will see if I can confirm this 100%.

I'd agree, it is useful to you and I and other experienced unlockers, and will be for some time without any updates.

But for the average joe who just wants to unlock his one phone, without spending days researching it..I would say it wil become more and more dangerous and result in more and more hardlocked phones.

Anyway, as I said, off topic, and just my opinion. I'll shut up about it now :-D

But for the average joe who just wants to unlock his one phone, without spending days researching it..I would say it wil become more and more dangerous and result in more and more hardlocked phones.

Anyway, as I said, off topic, and just my opinion. I'll shut up about it now :-D

sorry to continue this off topic but the problem here is to have someone with php knowledge to either improve the calc or to make a new one with the php scripts/algos available... :( (our beneficent, Mr. Man0n has done his share already ;) )

cheers

Hi,
I see a number of adverts on ebay for 6630 unlocking - are these to
be believed ?

I wouldn't... at least not for now, when there's no solution available in any way except asking for the code to your provider or sending the phone to Dejan...

At this moment, the only thing that ensures you are not wasting any penny is buying the code from your provider (there is some people working... but nothing solid for the moment and no expected release date for a solid solution).

Thanks for the info.
My 6630 is locked to 3 - but is out of the 12 month period.
I have read on other forums that 3 is doing the unlock for
£15 after the 12 months is up - inline with other operators.

Can anyone confirm this ?

Do you know if in that place there is a description of what Dejan does to unlock BB5 phones? Because that looks interesting... sounds similar to the problem with the imei patcher (if you change fw, then the new imei is erased and back to the original).

Best regards
Edge

Hi Edge...

I dont know about that place but i am sure i read somewhere Dejan saying

"Phones that can be unlocked for now are 6630,6680,n70,n90
with RAP3G up to v2.20e and simlock server version up to V58"

this is using what he calls a USB method! the newer version of the RAP3G IC v3.00e he can do nothing for but he says he is going to mess around with JTAG and see what happens!!

G

ps sorry for the late response!!

I already have a debranded, unlocked, straight from factory N70 but stumbled across this on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=9702140556

Any truth do you think? He seems to have good feedback and claims that it works.

How is the BB5 study going?

Since this is an old thread, those who started don't seem to be involved in the project anymore and because it has been used incorrectly too many times i feel it's time to close it.

Anyone interested in proceeding with this study should PM any of the moderators and request the its reopening.

Until then... CLOSED
