I'm interested in getting the Nokia 6630 but need to confirm if it still handles a traditional data call at 9600bps for WAP browsing.

ie, under

Tools→ Settings→ Connection→ Access points→ Data bearer

Can you set up for a data call and enter your ISP's dial-up number?

A slow connection I know, but still useful for using up inclusive minutes :-)

Thanks

Hey,

This is something I to find lacking in the 6630.
My previous 6600 allowed me to create a dialup connection similar to on my PC to use to retreive emails, the 6630 only seems to allow Mobile Web services.

I to am hoping the next firmware will address this issue.

On another forum the following was posted,

"Hah hah, cracked it! can't use dial up for WAP but can use it as a modem for dial up but the phone has to be switched to GSM mode only and not DUAL MODE."

Without a 6630 though I cannot experiment myself.

Maybe someone could see if they can make sense of this, unless the post just means a dial-up using a PC :-?

They scrapped the Dial Up connection on the 5530.

As its a 3G phone there hoping that people will use if for its full potential rather than crteating a suck slow 9.6k connection ;)
