Headsets and 7610

Hi, at Xmas I bought a 7610 and thought I'd use the built-in MP3 player, so I bought a Nokia HDS-3 dual headset from eBay. When I got it though it said 'Enhancement not supported' on the screen, and after looking on these forums it looks like I've got a genuine Nokia headset - which don't work with this phone (ah well, at least I only spent a few quid)

I was just wondering, are there any headsets out there with two earphones so I can listen to my songs in both ears without the sound coming out of the phone's speaker? I know the 7610 is mono, but I'd still like to hear sound in both ears. If there aren't, then I'd go for a bluetooth headset (if I have to have music in one ear, why not go wireless eh?). How loud would the volume be?

I know I should get a portable music device, and I intend to get one. I take my phone everywhere I go though, so if I fancy a quick song I can just carry the headset instead of the portable music player as well

If anyone knows of any dual earphone headsets which will work, or any decent bluetooth headsets that are compatible, then can you let me know? Any help would be much appreciated

i just modded a bog standard hands free kit i got with my 3310. opened up the mic bit, unsoldered the ear phone, then soldered on 2 earphones from some old earphones i had cut off. that way i got mono sound out both earphones on my 3650. also i noticed on that, that sometimes the sound would play through btoh the earphones and loud speaker. i used to just plug the earphones in very slowley while some music was playing and it would work. till i got the firware upgraded and it sorted that problem. but that was aloooong time ago.

infact, nk_au found a headset that worked with it i think? he bought his 7610 when it first came out and made a post about all the diff headsets he tried (or ones he thought would work from ebay lol). dunno if the post is still here cos it was again, aloooooooong time ago now?? before the forum got this make-over

Opening up the mic? Soldering? Lol, I don't think I'd trust myself with such things!

I did have a good search on the forums for posts about headsets before mine and didn't find much, and I've just had another look for nk_au's post but can't seem to find it.

Ah well, thanks very much for your reply - I'm much closer to getting a portable mp3 player now so that'll be better than the phone, but it's still a pain. I'll just have to upgrade yet again to another smartphone next year with stereo output!

infact, i just thought. remember teh headset you got with the 8310?? had 2 earphones, mono in both ears?? that should work. it was for the radio on the 8310 as it acted as an ariel too, but i know it worked on my old 3650. maybe you could find one of them on ebay or somethin

lol i just rememebred, the 7610 has a pop port on it dont it? and not a 2 and half mill audio jack.

A mate of mine used to have an 8310 and wondered what you were going on about then lol! I wouldn't mind a headset with a radio as well, but alas it's not pop-port as you said.

I've looked into the Nokia HS-4W as well, and I wouldn't like to walk around wearing that! I'd look like some sort of futuristic policeman, and that means I'd probably act like one too! :lol: Plus for the price of them on eBay I wouldn't forgive myself if I broke or lost it. But who knows - I may get one, or one similar in the future if I'm flash with cash...
