I have succesfully used kNok, EEPROMTools, NokTool and other DCT3 sw on an old, huge, steel case Windows 98SE desktop pc.

When i try to use those sw on a laptop with Windows XP, i get errors of phone not being detected.

I set the programs to be in Win98/ME compatibility mode, and i run the UserPort.exe/sys but the errors persist.

does anyone here do their flashing/servicing on WIndows XP? what kind of modifications did you have to make/set ?

Please help

thank you for yout time.

I have an Advent desktop PC with a 1.89GHz pentium 4 processor. I use userport to flash with rolis. Works fine, although it does use 99% of the processor power when flashing. Try to check how much processor power you have with windows task manager (just in case u dont no; no offence intended) Good luck:)

thank you very much for responding,

3 more follow up q's

1) which ranges do you plug into the user port to flash?

2) do you use the noktool too update the faid and etc? if so, did you give that sw any special treatment for it to detect the phone?
how about EEPROMTools?

3) did you treat your LPT port any different? like did you have to specify it to be in EPP, SPP or ECP mode for your lpt?

thank you

i just clicked update then start in the userport program(i think:trial and error). yeah i use noktol 1.8 to update Faid, and i dont have to specify anything in userport. I have it running all the time; i dont notice it really. Hope that helps. :) ne more questions; i'll do my best to answer them.

thanks m8, youve answered plenty.
i have just found out tha the notebook i bought specifically for flash hacking, cant set the LPT(parallel) to EPP mode (needed for fast reading and writing)

DOH!:(
