Does anyone know why after unlocking an Orange 1100 PAYG, if I insert an O2 sim, it picks up the network and can receive calls etc, but if you try and dial you get "Request not understood" ???

Works fine on Orange still.

Is this phone software or the unlock code used ??????

Cheers

Ian

Mr. Ian, as long as I know, probably it is a failure on the software. I've never heard of it on a 1100. But it's strange that it happens with specifically other provider than the original. For what I know, it shouldn't happen. At least it doesn't happens with mine. Mine is a very old firmware version, V3.31 10-13-03 RH 36.

Please, post your firmware version. Lately, newest 1100s are experimenting some difficulties on the unlocking process (not usual boxes, etc.). But your problem is the first that I hear of that kind.

I tried a different o2 SIM in the phone and it works fine. Works fine with Vodaphone too

It can only be a problem therefore, with the one O2 SIM card I have ??????

I've requested another replacement SIM card from O2, but we'll have to see what happens.

Many thanks for your help

Great Ian, the phone works ok then. The problem is probably with the sim.
When you receive the new sim, post what happened please.

Hi Edge,

I'll let you know what they say.

It's really weird though, the O2 SIM that wont work in the unlocked 1100, works fine in both Ericsson A2618's and Nokia 5110's ???

I've tried clearing the phone book, last calls, voice dials ..... everything..... still won't work.

I'll let you know what O2 say ;o)

Regards

Ian

Hi again all,

O2 have said that my SIM card is "Not part of our relationship"

I can purchase another one for £10 and they'll transfer the PAYG balance.

Errrrrr, I'll use my old phone until it runs out thanks 8¬|

In the mean time, I've signed up with Vodafone, and the SIM works fine :o))

Regards

Ian
