I would strongly suggest you to read the postings related to this handset. If your handset was locked by Nokia (to one GSM network), then not very good news (hopefully only for the time being).

i have an insider working at T-Mobile and he is going to get ahold of the algerithm they use so i can produce a working generator once i have the algerithm i will be willing to pm it anyone who asks so that we can work together in making a 100% working program :D

t-mobile dont have the "algorithm" if t-mobile have any thing they would have a compiiled program, t-mobile would have no access to the source code, also having spoken to the very helpful man in charge of the unlocking section at t-mobile, t-mobile dont generate the codes, t-mobile request the codes from nokia who then give the code to t-mobile
therefore your friends time is wasted

General info:
DCT2, DCT3 and DCT4 are different security levels, or technologies, on nokia phones. They have all differents algorithms, and procedure and code generating is different.
Griffin old, griffin new, v2, Prodigy, etc: They just apply to DCT4 technology. In DCT4 handsets, the locking is made by a piece of hardware called "dongle". This dongle has a serial number inside, and with this number it changes a part of the algorith, that you can see on the first numbers of the codes. Do a test, try different serials (try v2, original, GTCL-001, etc) and you will see a slight change in the first numbers of the code.
Hope this helps a little! if it is still not enough, do a search on the forums with the search tool, it has been explained several times here.
Best regards
