My 6600 was stolen last night, what can I do to prevent it being misused?
I have of course called my service provider and blocked the SIM card and called the local police dept. and reported the IMEI number, but I'm worried about the phone still being switched on. The thief will have access to calender, e-mails, pictures etc etc. I have changed my password for my POP3 e-mail server and my MSN password (as agilemessenger was installed).
Anything else I can or should do?

Track the phone down and kill the thief who took it

Nothing to do man. On this day the one steal your phone is know what to do - changing the IMEI; reflash; format etc.. And i think on this he wos to do, all of your data will be gone on your phone.

but..
You can never change thee IMEI of the 6600. (unless you change the chip but it costs too much)
And the phone can be blocked by network providers (with the use of the IMEI)

Oh man, you're a poor guy now on technology as of today :(, some are now changing the IMEI of their phone and theres a previous post here regarding changing the IMEI. Theres a cellphone service (Not Nokia as well) thats offer this man, specially here in the Philippines, so even you blocked it with your operator, the stealers can do this way, if they know this stuff....

You sure you know what youre talking bout bro?
Changing IMEI is Complex than what you think. On DCT3 phones, changing IMEI is really easy coz i'ts written on an eeprom while on DCT4 and above models, you cant. It can't be reprogrammed. You just have to change the chip!

Yah man, im really sure, theres a cell center offer that but you know its underground and when we walk along the cell shop some guys offer that and he said that event DCT4 can. Yes, i agreed that DCT3 phone can easily change the IMEI but it can do also on DCT4, it was a chip and hava a program so theres an application and programmer on that. IMEI is only a serial or barcoded no so you can change it on the program, and someone said to me that its like a reflashing, to change the IMEI i mean. I go to the one told me and to capture tha screenshot of IMEI to close this conversation.
Nice throwing of knowledge mate, and sorry for the way i reply.

...yes its a routine job here in the PHillippines. somebody sells you a dct4 phone and says "unit" and "charger" only. bang-it's a give away that the phone is stolen or "refurbished". so they do replace the otp (one time programmable chip) and what else... rebuild the IMEI! easily done at your local cellphone repair shop. and here lots of stalls all have those blackboxes like griffin, neelix, UFS etc...although Nokia started encrypting their phone software it's only a matter of time before some insider passes it on to others....
tip for those who dread losing their phone and personal data.
1. use the security code and remember it..
2. use the PIN code for the sim card
3. use a password for the memory card (if your phone has one)
however these are only minor deterrents to any determined hacker...

Nah it was nothing... ;)
But really, what i mean was you cant change the IMEI that easily unless you change the chip which is pretty expensive am i right?
check my first post ;) you may have misunderstood what i said :)

Yup!
that's what i'm talking about ;)
soldering chips and rebuilding the imei needs time and hardware.
talk about the cost :D
By the way, pareparehas lang pla tayong pinoy e :-D
