hi guys..
i'm using a Nokia 6260 symbian OS phone and..

i have been using smartmovie v2.50 (cracked version) for some time already (like one mth ago.. there wasn't any time limit for it to work) n it was working fine ... could watch all the avi files i converted regardless the file size or any video settings...

but recently it has this "App Closed!!" error.. the app jus closed itself

i jus came out of a sudden.. dunno wat caused it

when i restarted the player, it just play my movie (avi file) for like ard 12 sec and the application jus closed itself and stated : "App Closed! SmartMovie"
(i can still jump to any part of the movie.. n still the same thing.. so i can confirm that its not the problem with my avi files..infact its the same error for any avi files i played)

i have done some researched on this error on other forums n noticed that it could be due to some mp3 encoding or other app clashes of some sort.. don't really understand.. anyway most thread didn't provide the exact solution to it

i tried getting a newer version of smartmovie v2.73 but couldn't find the crack..so i reinstalled my version of smartmovie n still i get the same error..
some suggest to format the phone..(is it the phone memory or the MMC card?) i'm not sure myself.. so i tried formatting my RS-MMC card (256MB) n reinstalled the necessary app only n still i get the same app closed error.

btw how do u format the phone itself?.. does the master reset do the job? as in restoring the phone to the original factory settings?.. can someone clear
my doubt.. thanz..

and if i really need to format my N6260.. how do i backup my SMS..
i notice the nokia PC suite does not backup SMS for symbian phones.. only backup contacts is avaliable.

so i hoping someone can really guide me thru this problem
can anyone help?... pls it took mi many effor to find this version of smartmovie to be compatible on my phone (N6260)

thanz for anyone who can help mi in advance here ;-)

i got SeleQ (a phone explorer) to back up my sms n contacts by copying two folders from the phone memory c:\system\data n c:\system\data

more detailed explaination -> from Thanh

First of all, you need to get an application called "SeleQ", which is a
file
manager. Let me know if you have that one, if not, i will send it to
you.

Then you need sufficient free space on your MMC card! I would say at
least
10 megabytes free.

Uninstall any version of SmartMovie that is installed.

Use SeleQ to create a folder on drive e: (that is your MMC card) and
name it
"backup" or whatever you want to name it.

Then go to drive c: and find a folder "c:/system/data". rename that
folder
to "datam" or similar, make it simple as possible.

Then "copy" that entire folder, navigate to e:/backup (or whatever you
named
your new folder) and "paste".

Now navigate back to c:/system and rename the "datam" (or whatever)
folder
to "data".

Then exit all applications, and go to the standby screen.

Enter this code: *#7370#

It will reset your phone to "factory settings" but in fact, the only
thing
that will be lost is the settings of time and date which you need to
re-enter after the phone has rebootet. Check your SMS if they are still
there - they should!

Now re-install SmartMovie 2.72 and see if it still brings up the
errors.

it should NOT do it!

but IF IT STILL DOES, you need to do the hard stuff...... a REAL reset.

Power off the phone.

Then hold SIMULTANEOUSLY the "green" (answer), "pencil" and "*" keys
AND
power on the phone. I know this is tricky, but can be donw.

It will show "formatting" and that procedure can take several minutes.
make
sure the battery is fully charged before attempting that!!

After that is done, your phone is indeed 'virgin"... like out of the
box.
Nothing that was installed on c: is there anmymore 9but of course
everything
on MMC is still there!

Now you install SmartMovie 2.72. IT WILL DEFINITELY WORK.

Then use SeleQ (which is still there if yoiu had installed it on MMC,
in
fact everything installed to MMC will still be there but some apps will
not
work anymore yet) to go to c:/system and rename the "data" folder to
something else.

Then go to e:/yourfolderbackup, open it and select the "datam" folder
in
there. "copy" it.

Back to c:/system and "paste"

Then rename the just pasted folder to "data". forget about the other
one -
you can actually delete it later.

Now reboot phone.

It may on reboot come up with "database corrupted" - ignore that, and
reboot
again.

And now all your SMS will be there again, your phonebook, and the
functionality of most apps. Those apps that still won't work (any
PSILOC
apps for example) need to be re-installed.

=END=

i formatted my N6260 by resetting the phone to its original factory settings n restored my back up file n reinstalled smartmovie app ...
and the problem was solved ..

jus keep in mind not to anyhow install any app in the future..cos it might conflict each other.. den we hav to go over the steps again to recover it

thanz once again to anyone who provided me assitance n info..
