PVPlayer

I have just got my Orange 6680 flashed the the real Nokia software - only problem is I've lost my PVPlayer.

I have acquired version 3.01 of PVPlayer but this is v old and doesn't work too well. So I have tried to copy a newer version from my 6630 to the 6680. I can see all the PV files in the Z drive in FExplorer of the 6630 and I have copied these accross to the 6680 and tried to run the app file but no joy. I have also tried using the v3.01 installation sis then changing the app file to the new version app file I moved from the 6630 but again no joy. Is the only way I can do this properly to get the latest sis file or can I bodge it from the files I have?

moving the files over might not work, since there might be some other files spread to other dir when installed.

try irc for a proper .sis one.

see faq in symbians faqs sections. its a program on ur pc to go to chatrooms to dl stuff.

I have now tried v.3.04 but it does not open? Installs OK but just will not open the program - now tried 3 versions of 3.4. Reinstalled 3.0 and this works still (well as good as it did)
Can someone tell me which version of PVPlayer an original Nokia Orange 6680 is running please.

My new 6680 has 03.04.00.253, build 269 (c)2003.

Does this mean its not changed since 2003?

Can you not use realplayer instead or does orange world insist on PVPlayer?

BTW, does Orange World still have it full "functionality" with standard nokia firware?

I think that just may be original copyright date?? I think 6600 and 7610 etc were running previous versions 3.1 etc. My 6630 is running the same as your 6680 but build 260

Orange World seems to work fine with standard Nokia firmware - all 'YourPAge' etc still works fine and you have access to all the things you normally would. But it is just opening video clips where there is a problem - as far as I can work out it needs to use PVPlayer - it doesn't try to open real player if no PVPlayer.. That said does it actually need to use PVPlayer? Can real playe rbe set to do this job? Has anyone got real player or any othe rsfotware to work for the Orange World video clips?
